MSU plays Nebraska on Wednesday and then travels to UM for a Saturday game.

Nebraska is 6-8 and 0-3 in the Big Ten, including a 35 point loss to UM. On paper, Nebraska does not do anything spectacularly well. They are not a good perimeter team and shoot 43% from the field overall. They have two guards that average 16ppg.

UM is 7-5 and 1-1 in the Big 10 with a game against Rutgers on Tuesday. UM can shoot the ball so MSU's defense has a tough road assignment. Dickinson is averaging close to a double-double from the center position and will step outside for the occasional three, which makes him tougher to guard. Guard Eli Brooks is UM's other top scorer who can also shoot the three.

ESPN matchup predictor favors MSU versus Nebraska but not against UM.

Izzo also defended some of Michigan’s losses, pointing out that Rutgers had star guard Geo Baker back from injury when the two teams matched up this week and that Seton Hall and Arizona are both ranked teams. Michigan was shorthanded due to COVID-19 absences against Rutgers.

“This is a very talented, well-coached, they run good stuff, team,” Izzo said. We’ve got to play our best, I promise you.”

Izzo has preached that to his players, as well, who need no reminding that teams rise up to win games in this rivalry all the time.

“I don’t ever look at the record,” Spartans junior forward Malik Hall said. “I just look at what they’re capable of, because on any given night anybody is capable of anything, really.”
