I'm not a member but my college roommate was/is?? I don't know if he is anymore. That place has a lot of history. I think the last time I was there was maybe 15 years ago for his daughters bday party. Sucks.

Wonder how many government subsidies they’ll get for rebuilding a historic site?

Last time I was there was the 1985 U.S. Open. I got a weekend pass from this gal I dated. Pretty cool weekend for a 25 year-old shitforbrains.

Strictly from a golf fan perspective the amount of priceless memorabilia in they place had to be enormous.

What does working on a caddy have to do with being a caddie?

I think we’re forgetting all the service workers who are sick to their stomach right now because they made a semi decent living there. Members be damned. There are some good people out of jobs.

Don’t worry, DWags, he’s still your college roommate. Always will be. That can’t change.

Fair point. I wouldn't want that to hurt people. Would building insurance cover staff pay?

Good question. I’m pretty sure you can pay for any kind of insurance. Them paying you if something happens might be different.

My Dad was a member for 50 years and he would agree about the staff. Nobody member treated them better than Jack but so many asshole members did not.
He got the membership in 1969 as a perk to his job with ABC. He loved the golf course and the people who worked it. The members, not so much

Insurance on the building would not. Business interruption insurance does cover employee pay in this type of situation, but most business do not carry business interruption insurance (about 33% of small business do).Dendrobates wrote:DWags wrote:

I worked for a national CPA firm early in my career and one of my audit clients was an exclusive country club. Every single one of their full time wait staff made more money than I did. DWags is right about a semi-decent living.

Reports saying it's an $80M loss. Not buying that number.

Depends on the prices for their collectable collection.
