To be followed by a violent protest planning session in the basement of the church.
Bring a casserole to pass.

Right. It's somehow tied to campaign finances, no? Do you have more details, or any decent articles detailing?
My favorite source for American news is the BBC. They usually do a nice, level headed job of detailing things. What they were saying this morning is:
The Stormy Daniels case is about how Mr Trump reimbursed his lawyer Michael Cohen after Cohen paid Ms Daniels $130,000. The record for the payment reimbursing Cohen says the payment was for "legal fees". Prosecutors may say this amounts to Mr Trump falsifying business records, a misdemeanour in New York.
If that's all it really is.... I dunno. I mean, "legal fees" seems as good as any description. I would imagine putting "hush money to prevent porn star from leaking details of disgusting affair" as a description would kind of negate the whole thing.
Grand juries don't indict for misdemeanors, do they?
And states don't have jurisdiction over campaign finances violations.
It's likely fraud or similar based on how the payment to Cohen was registered.

Hey Ron. Is there a reason you don't want to take on the question of illegal movent of campaign funds? I mean, is it legal to do what trump did.
And btw, how's that hurricane fund in your wife's name going?

They want people too stupid to complain about banning more and more books until there's nothing left for their children to read and their children end up too stupid to complain and the circle goes on and on and keeps expanding.

Yeah, I'm really confused on this one.
It's not illegal to pay someone to keep quiet. That's an established fact.
Prosecutors suggest that Trump listing the reimbursement to his lawyer as a "legal fee" is tantamount to falsifying business records, which would be a misdemeanor. I have no clue how prosecutors think he SHOULD have recorded this expense. I am not an accountant. Did they expect him to list "Hush Money" on the ledger???
Now here's where it gets interesting/confusing. Per the BBC:
"Prosecutors could also potentially allege that this breaks election law, because his attempt to hide his payments to Ms. Daniels was motivated by not wanting voters to know he had an affair with her. Covering up a crime by falsifying records would be a felony, which is a more serious charge."
So first - well duh. Second, if it's not illegal to pay someone to keep quiet, then what crime is being covered up? Are they referring to the book keeping listing it as a "legal fee?"
I fucking hate Trump with a white hot passion and even I'll go on record as saying that's pretty weak sauce.
What I find amazing is that the focus is on these technical details and not the out right distastefulness of cheating on your wife and paying the affair partner to keep quiet. Like how is that not a disqualifier anymore?

I'm betting this whole "affair with a porn star" deal was legitimately his bright idea to bolster his image and his 'manhood' with his ridiculous base. I would bet a lot of money on it if we had a way of absolute verification. However to admit it was his made up idea would be bad for his image. But now he's got himself in a pickle with how he went about it. The dude is a lot of things but his fixation on beautiful things is, IMO, extremely fake and scripted. I honestly think he's probably gay deep down. NTTAWWT.

I keep seeing MSM stories about Republicans saying the Democratic Party is "overplaying its hand" like the law is some sort of poker game.

My CPA friend told me once that you need to know how to cheat. On your taxes, he said, an error about your income amount is a crime, but an error in what is deductible is an error in judgment.

Sometime I wonder about your cognition.
Just because Republicans keep paying off the police doesn't change the principles the country was founded upon.
Are you saying that Trump should skate because Fred Trump scammed the Federal Government out of millions while defiantly being woke in a very negative way?
Are you all in on turning the United States into Russia?

You're up in here ranting like it's all black and white. "If he did the crime, he does the time." That's great interwebz blowhard theory, but that is SO not true in today's judicial system, and we both know it.

Generally it is true.
If the prosecutors don't think they have the evidence to take it to court then they don't indict, which is what is confusing some people. The real decisions on guilt are made prior to the indictment.

There are racial biases in policing and the prosecutors offices, for sure, and if someone has the money they can tie up the courts for years with appeals. However, straight up crimes, where the evidence of the crime is there, usually end with a conviction and legal punishment, most likely plea bargained down from the first charge.
Critics of the justice system focus on the injust outcomes and ignore the routine results, so we do not have a clear picture, unless we study the situation closely.
In this case Trump's notoriety probably works against him.
