The story they are going with is that they were meeting, etc, getting ready for the possibility of Trump prevailing in court. Unless Fannie and Co have good evidence that this was false, or some other crimes, then it's nothing. I don't believe she has anything good on the elector front. Additionally they are all obviously coordinating their story through a scummy lawyer representing most of them.

That said, the voting machine breach should be fully investigated and absolutely punished. that was egregious. Get anyone involved with that and bring them down.

Since the signed by them documents were sent to Congress stating they were the legal electoral vote it went a bit further than a contingency plan.

You may be right, but immunity isn’t handed out gratis. The DA expects the immunized cooperators to testify as to what they know in relation to others accused, whether it’s the two who weren’t offered deals, or someone(s) higher up in the campaign. Could be Trump or any of the other names we’re familiar with.
BTW, I’m told it’s extraordinarily unusual for one lawyer to rep all of those accused of being involved. There’s going to be an obvious conflict when one client testified against one of her others. If the judge doesn’t assign other lawyers, s/he might have the accused go on record saying they understand the possibility of conflict. That could help avoid an appeal if there’s a conviction if someone later on wants to claim ineffective assistance of counsel.

GA GOP Chair David Shafer’s legal counsel have advised him to say he was following the advice of Trump’s legal team aka “I was following orders” defense.

This is reminiscent of Holocaust organizer Adolph Eichman’s 1962 letter for clemency when he wrote he and other junior Nazi officers were following orders from their superior officers. The same defense was used by multiple Nazi officers at the Nuremberg Trials following WW2.

The meme of "just following orders" not being a defense has always seemed like shaky ground, meaning there are situations where just following orders is all that people can do.

That said, this is not one of the situations where "just following the advice of the lawyers" really fits, as he was not working for Trump and he should have gotten his own legal independent advice.
