Something Trump & Now Biden Both Got Right
Although in Trumps case it is questionable as to if it was only political rhetoric.

Biden has pushed through major acts to on shore manufacturing in the US.
...As it stands now, U.S. manufacturing is relatively weak, union membership is puny, and, as we all saw firsthand during the pandemic, a lot of our stuff—not just clothes, but electronics and pharmaceuticals—comes from other countries. China today controls over 28 percent of the global manufacturing output; the U.S. comes in a distant second place, at 16.8 percent.

The only way this is "right" is if they are paying living wages for these jobs.

Not as much as we could hope. Biden supports it in concept.
The average salary for a manufacturing worker in the United States is $31,001. Manufacturing worker salaries typically range between $24,000 and $38,000 a year. The average hourly rate for manufacturing workers is $14.9 per hour.
Location, education, and experience impacts how much a manufacturing worker can expect to make. Manufacturing workers make the most in Oregon, North Dakota, Washington, Alaska, and Connecticut.

$14.90 is an embarrassment. You can walk into a McDonalds in Traverse City and they will start you at $18hr

Not sure what the manufacturing wages in TC are though. Pretty sure they are in a fairly large variance by state, due to some states having stronger unions.
I'm having trouble believing that site, based on what the LBS reports.

Regardless, Kingston’s main point stands. $14.90/hr. is an embarrassing, unlivable wage. Imagine trying to provide for a family on that.
Should also be noted that workers at GM in the last 20 years are the first generations to be earning less than their parents did at the company. Embarrassing.

Looking through the zippia those wages look to be entry-level positions. Would it be reasonable to assume with time in the position there would be increases?
The numbers from the BLS suggest that is the case.
Those numbers do not include benefits, if any.
Don't these numbers suggest there are strong needs for more union shops?

Re: Something Trump & Now Biden Both Got Right
For decades, the U.S. exported jobs and imported products, while other countries surpassed us in critical sectors like infrastructure, clean energy, semiconductors, and biotechnology. Thanks to President Biden’s Investing in America Agenda – including historic legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden such as the American Rescue Plan, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, CHIPS and Science Act, and Inflation Reduction Act – that is changing.
President Biden’s Investing in America agenda is mobilizing historic levels of private sector investments in the United States, bringing manufacturing back to America after decades of offshoring, and creating new, good-paying jobs, including union jobs and jobs that don’t require a college degree. His Investing in America agenda is rebuilding our roads and bridges using Made in America materials, built by American workers. And it’s transforming our country for the better – reaching communities in every corner of the United States, including those that have too often been left behind. This website provides an interactive map that illustrates the impact of these record-breaking levels of public and private investment across states and territories under the Biden Administration.
