Best cheap restaurant in every state
They picked ChouPli Wood-Fired Kabob in Lansing for Michigan. Sounds good. Anyone ever been there?

Never heard of it. Looks lunch friendly though... maybe I can work it into my revolving schedule.

No, the opposite. Supposedly as healthy as Mediterranean cuisine. Quite tasty, too. Lot of Middle Eastern restaurants around here.AvgMSUJoe wrote:Is middle eastern bad for you? Seriously don't know... haven't had it much.

Never heard of the place, Pantry. Too bad it’s not closer. No desire to drive to the other side of Lansing for a meal.

If you hit all the lights, it's probably what...10 minutes from EL?
Would take longer to get to Spag's for pizza.

Lansing area people are funny in that they’ll do that about things being on the otherside of the city even though it’s only 15 minutes away. It’s a contrast to coming from where I used to live where traffic dictated that 2 miles away was going to take just as long as east lansing to grand ledge will.

I rarely leave East Lansing but it's mainly because I'm lazy and disinterested.Travis of the Cosmos wrote:Lansing area people are funny in that they’ll do that about things being on the otherside of the city even though it’s only 15 minutes away. Confession: I’ve never had either one. Panchero’s is a chain and even though I’ve wanted to try El Oasis, I’m always rushing to get someplace else when I drive by.

Old Town is about as far as I’d drive for food. Old Town Diner had a great breakfast, Saddleback for BBQ, Creole, and Golden Harvest before they became self important blowhards.

https://panchoslansing.com/ by the Lansing Mall... El Oasis is good. Usually an event to order and wait for your food.

we actually went to Meat a couple of weeks back. We were in Old Town with some friends for some sort of 'art feast' thing. Meat, shockingly enough, was quiet. Maybe 2-3 tables occupied and there was nobody sitting at the bar.AvgMSUJoe wrote:Sheesh, I gotta drive 45 min to Old Town for good BBQ...Robert J Sakimano wrote: I rarely leave East Lansing but it's mainly because I'm lazy and disinterested.
at, like, 5:00 in the afternoon with a festival going on. Seemed odd.

That's part of the charm of El Oasis. It's fine when it's warm out. Or sitting in the car is OK.

Oh, I know it’s there. I’m just not in a rush for chain food from any place except Applebee’s.

Is it similar food? I saw Pancho's started as a food truck.

Some people just don’t have the traveling adventurous gene and won’t leave their neighborhood. People like me, Magellan, Edmun Hillary, Amundsen, and Neil Armstrong have the adventurous gene that drives us forward.
