Wojo's Weekly Picks
Wojo's Pigskin Picks: Empty seats are the new tradition
Around here, adults and students would dutifully file into Michigan Stadium, squeeze together cheek-to-cheek (at least 200,000 cheeks, by my math), and spend three glorious hours peeling mushy bread off discolored hot dogs while griping about Bo's conservativeness.
The attendance issue is spotlighted here because Michigan has the biggest stadium and because Brady Hoke doesn't wear a headset and because Michigan is going through an identity crisis, unsure if it wants to be really good or just run the largest memorabilia outlet in the Midwest.

MgoBluck board already touting bottom tier PAC 12 Utah, as "scary good". In two games against FCS App St and 19 straight loser Miami, Julius Poopers looks to be " the next Charles Woodson".....lol

He mentioned the lack of seats that's affecting all teams right now. I wonder if part of it also has to do with cracking down on underage drinking and tailgating.

I look forward to football Friday's and reading these.Meanwhile, Michigan opens conference Saturday exactly where it wants to be — undefeated in the Big Ten with Minnesota coming to town. It's the famous Little Brown Jug game, and to commemorate it, school officials put together a clever promotion. With the purchase of two little brown bottles of Coke, customers received two tickets, two hot dogs, two Advil and two VCR tapes of a 1970s game of their choice.

I give Wojo props considering he is a UM alum; most writers have no affiliation and lampoons his alma mater as much as anyone else. Usually funny shiite.

Bob is a professional poster. Don't you know he gets paid for it? American capitalism at it's very best, even tho Bob is a socialist.
Actually, I want to grow up and be like Bob, except for the asshole part.

It’s not totally fair to Harbaugh, who isn’t even trying to stir things up in the football realm. Heck, he disappeared during training camp into Michigan’s new multimillion-dollar “Harbmarine.” Ask him about the Spartans and he’ll politely call them “the biggest guy on the block,” then stare blankly into space. Harbaugh is what experts call “quirky,” which is somewhere between “brilliant” and “Daffy Duck crazy,” to use the clinical terms.

Re: Wojo's Weekly Picks
Please do me a favor: anytime a Michigan fan tries to talk to you about how ole Jimmy Harbaugh is going to turn things around for the Wolverines this season and “really surprise some people,” slam either your or their head into the nearest wall. Michigan will be average at best, and its Iowa-transfer quarterback is going to flop because, well, he transferred from Iowa, where he was unimpressive. The Wolverines are not particularly worth your time, so if you’re thinking about watching them, maybe rewatch Mr. Robot or stare at a wall instead.

That writer is a raging douche. What is it with all these writers that only find offense exciting?LooseGoose wrote:Please do me a favor: anytime a Michigan fan tries to talk to you about how ole Jimmy Harbaugh is going to turn things around for the Wolverines this season and “really surprise some people,” slam either your or their head into the nearest wall. Michigan State is the good ol’ Hershey bar — really, really solid, but for some reason doesn’t get as much respect as its gooier brethren. Backup candy: Sour Patch Kids, for their occasional sour disposition.
■ Michigan is the Tootsie Roll — popular back in the day, craving to be relevant again. Backup candies: Junior Mints, based on current instate rivalry status, and Butterfinger (sorry).

Wojo’s Pigskin Picks: Upon further view, refs cause chaos
Ah, the sounds of autumn. The thump of the marching bands, the crack of the decal-covered helmets, the gurgling noises after eating Aunt Margaret’s mayonnaise-based potato salad at the tailgate.
But truly, college football wouldn’t be the same without this sound: “You (bleep-bleeping), clueless (bleep-head), poor excuse of a (bleeping) ref!! WHAT GAME ARE YOU WATCHING???!”

Re: Wojo's Weekly Picks
Not his weekly pick. This article is very good though.
Your intrepid columnist wasn't looking for a fiery response — trust me, you'll know when I'm trolling — when I asked Dantonio Tuesday how the program has changed, so that the Spartans now pull out so many dramatic victories. Not a riveting question, but certainly not a challenge to who the Spartans are, or used to be.
"How many years ago are we talking now, when you want to use the Same Old Spartans type of thing, because that's not in existence," Dantonio said, his eyes flashing. "Hasn't been in existence for a long time. How many games have we won around here on the last play of the game? Seven? So that's happened for quite a while. I think that's a product of our environment."
Let the record show, SOS didn't come from me, not that it matters. It's in Dantonio's soul to swat perceived slights and it's brilliant, really. His players feed off it, and several expounded on it after beating heavily favored Ohio State.

Weird that DetNews changed the title sometime between 12:13am and 6:21am. I wonder what feedback they got from their walvie constituents that forced the change.

Wojo's Pigskin Picks: UM, OSU keep sights on rivalry
Sinead at QB would be pretty funny.
It doesn’t matter if Connor Cook, Tyler O’Connor, Sinead O’Connor, or Sandra Day O’Connor is running the offense, the Spartans have shown they can maul with the best. And you can’t diminish their victory over the Buckeyes one tiny bit, no matter how obvious it was Ohio State had no intention of winning. Listen, I’m not accusing Urban Meyer of anything, other than being smarmy.
Sinead at QB would be pretty funny.
This is where our Buckeyes friends have screwed up, more than normal. They take the Wolverines very seriously, even when it’s not remotely necessary. But they don’t take the Spartans seriously enough, even when it’s clearly necessary. That’s why Mark “Definitely Not Mike” Dantonio chews on disrespect like a hungry Buckeye gnaws on his traditional Thanksgiving squirrel. Meyer is 28-0 against Big Ten opponents not named Michigan State, and 2-2 against Michigan State.

Man, that entire piece was hilarious. Won't quote, because you may as well just go over and read it, but...wow.
And we're scoring more than 17 against Penn State, and they're not scoring 14. Just sayin'.

That's been his shtick this year. He has consistently put on last week's winning score as the score were going to win by, at the very least, since we played um.SpartanInNH wrote:Floyd Robertson wrote:Wojo's Pigskin Picks: UM, OSU keep sights on rivalry
