I don't think there's some far reaching pro Duke conspiracy, but Duke definitely got the benefit of the officiating errors down the stretch here. NCAA officiating is very poor.

Tyus Jones deserves a ton of credit, as much as I hate to give it to him. Hopefully he leaves and his camp can afford the pay cut.

I think you have to credit coach k. Guy is a master at working the refs, teaching his kids to exploit the rules with the flop, how to draw contact, and the right points to make hard contact on opponents without getting called for it. Add in the fact that they are amazing jump shooters and can drive the ball results in national champs.

Duke did it all with rental players. They water down their academics for McDonald's all Americans, guarantee playing minutes and get them in the pros.

Wow, just wow. Guy is damn good at working the loop holes. Last two duke games were like nd vs Michigan state where Brian Kelly and Reese lobbied the refs then just threw the ball deep trying to draw the call. Reffing in college sports is bad enough where that type of strategy will work.

Except the problem is not really one-and-done players. That is the new norm imposed on CBB from above. In other words, it is a by-product of a silly NBA rule.

The problem is the oversigning. I'm not sure why that is hard to understand. Steve likes to say Duke will flush their freshmen. He is wrong. Freshmen leaving early is the not the same as flushing players. Duke has room to keep their current freshmen plus add players signed for the 2015 class. That is legitimate roster management.

UK is oversigned. That is the real issue. UK's 13 scholarship players are juniors, sophomores, and freshmen. At least three will have to leave to make room for the 2015 class, and 2016 will be the same, and 2017, and so on and so on. That is where the criticism comes from. It is not Duke that has freshmen classes that are 1/3 the size of a football class.
