10 things to watch: Detroit Pistons' key plots for 2015-16 training camp
AUBURN HILLS -- Ten things to watch as the 2015-16 Detroit Pistons open training camp Tuesday, with president of basketball operations and head coach Stan Van Gundy expected to welcome 19 roster candidates:

Pistons' Drummond shows faith in Gores, waits on deal
The Detroit Pistons and center Andre Drummond will let the Nov. 2 deadline for a contract extension pass and shelve negotiations until next off-season.
It's expected that they will agree on a five-year, $120-million deal soon after the NBA free agency moratorium ends next off-season. But by delaying the deal, the Pistons will have an extra $12.7 million in salary cap space to attract free agents or facilitate trades next summer.
Pistons owner Tom Gores was instrumental in Drummond's decision, with the two meeting before the camp to discuss the scenarios.
"I will tell you, I've learned from conversations that we had, we're really giving ourselves the flexibility to build this team up and do the right things to get us where we need to be," Drummond, 22, told reporters today. "I'm just ready to prepare for the season and, whenever that time comes again, I'll be prepared for it."
Pistons president Stan Van Gundy made the announcement but said it was all Drummond's decision.
"As much as Andre wants to be here, he desperately wants to win and wants to be part of a contender and wants us to have the flexibility to continue to add people to this team," Van Gundy said. "He has a great relationship with Tom -- a very open, honest, trusting relationship. They spend a lot of time talking about this.

The stanimal and the penguin are going to bring the Pistons back to the promise land. NBA is going to be awesome this year. Stanimal lit it up tonight dropping 20. Might have to buy season tickets again, Drummond alone might make the purchase worth it. Regular season about to begin

Pistons set to add free-agent G Ish Smith
Orlando, Fla. — It might not be the big name that fans were seeking, but it looks like the Pistons got one of the pieces they coveted in free agency.
The Pistons reached an agreement with Ish Smith on a three-year deal to solidify their bench as their backup point guard, a source told The Detroit News on Friday. Terms of the agreement were not immediately available.
Smith, 27, has played for nine teams in six years, including the Pelicans and Sixers last season. He was traded from New Orleans to Philadelphia — his second stint with the Sixers — for two second-round picks in December.
At 6-feet, 175 pounds, Smith is regarded as a speedy, athletic and smart point guard. He averaged 14.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.0 assists, starting in all 50 games, with the Sixers. Smith started just three of 27 games with the Pelicans, posting 8.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.7 assists.
Smith will back up starter Reggie Jackson and likely will come at a low cost, as he made just $1.1 million last season.

I really want GSW to go for 74 and a title this year, but I suspect that even though they will be a better team next year, they probably won't even get 70. I think they'll rest guys a lot more after what happened this year.

Very very good off season for the Pistons IMO. Don't know about the kid from Mercy BUT their other pick ups in Smith and Leuer (sp?) I liked a lot. Also fucking Boban! SVG is the man - not too sure about that first rounder out of Marquette but if he pans out he'll fit the system SVG has in place.
