Coyote or something else?
Picture from my trail cam in the U.P. Long tail, black tip. Too tall to be a cougar I think. A little long and narrow for a wolf or coyote. Weigh in people.

Squatch, fuhshow...
I pulled my cards today and got a couple dandy 10 pts with forked brow tines. Multiple days, all during the day. 3 buck bachelor group.... Not going back till 10/1 now.... IGGCited!!!!
That seems like a pretty saggy belly for a yote.... not sure if that tail is long enough to be a cat though but it sure looks like a cat vs yote to me though. I don't think it's a wolf. Hair looks short (cat) vs shaggy (wolf/yote) How tall to you estimate the hind quarters to be?

Fur color change between the back (darker) and the belly (lighter) has me second guessing myself to = wolf.... Hell, I don't know.

I'd say 2 1/2 feet. I was thinking the same thing about a coyote or wolf. If it is its the most well fed one I've ever seen. Not sure the tail is long enough for a cat. Weird thing is their were 380 pictures, not a single buck on a spot that routinely has at least 4 different ones. all pictures were the same damn doe and a couple bear. Hmmmmmmmm, something pushing them out?

Something about the lighting at 1am and 56° on Valentine's Day 2012 is not adding up.

Me and my brother did a historical log on snowfall from the 50's to now. No significant swing to account for deer loss. It's the wolves and nobody is gonna tell me different. I know temp severity and snow longevity play a role but I'm not buying it.

An adult coug could do the same thing if it picked out a home range right in your neck of the woods. Easy.

No, I'm home now. Pine needle cover and leaves. No prints just passing through. It was the only pic. Damn it!

My cams take color pics during daylight hours and B/W in low/no light situations, much like this pic.... #Shrug
What does the temp and date have to do with time of day?

Re: Coyote or something else?
UP? My guess is a wolf. Bigger than the coyotes where I live in the hinterlands.
About a year ago I saw a coyote up close an personal outside my place. It was smaller and my first thought was "damn that's one mangy looking dog" and then I saw it react to the pack howling in the distance.
I'm a wuss, I backed away and it went on its way. I also think I solved the mystery of what happened the neighbor's cats that she used to let roam all night.

I am in the TC area and there have been rumors/"sighting" of cougars in the area for years. One night about 4 years ago I was outside grilling in the middle of the night. All the sudden, hell broke loose in the woods 10 feet from my garage (where I was standing, grilling).... Sounded like a god damn Godzirra sprinting through the woods, breaking shit and just not giving a fuck what it ran into.... The hair on my neck stood up, I got chicken skinned, started backing up toward the door to the house and was just about to turn and run when...... out pops a doe.
Scared the fuck out of me.

Your feelings get hurt so much maybe YOU should go back to tRCMB.
FWIW, I don't even know why/how I got you to began crying in this thread to begin with. All I was trying to do was point out that the pic was taken in the middle of the night after you seemed to indicate that you thought it was during daylight hours. I wasn't trying to be a dick. Do you have something against being called "brah", or are you somehow still all salty because I made a NASCAR bet one time? Sheesh. Wanna hug?
