You'll be more than fine. If it ends up near Tampa, that won't be until later in the day Monday at the earliest that they start feeling effects.

Miami looks like a bullseye. InTenSity, can I have your Oregon tickets?
Meh, a TS is nothing. I still have to come in to work for a TS. Kind of fucked up if its a strong one and I have to drive in with 60 mph winds. I'm getting 2 more tickets today, and I could get 2 more next week, but I have family who I'm giving those to. We can certainly meet for a beer and a brawl though.

I don't think we are going to know the details until is moves over Hispaniola. The eye of the storm has been wandering a bit, so the mountains "could" break it up. If it says organized and moves north of Cuba to restrengthen south Florida could get a nice rain storm but nothing disastrous.
Best case scenario is that the mountains break everything up and we just get a wave, like you said. I'm having a hard time even seeing an eye this morning on the satellite images, but I'm not a meteorologist. She still hasn't really turned north, and I think yesterday they had her on the north side of Hispaniola. Today is the day where she hopefully falls apart.
Despite projections that it won't be more than a tropical storm, the local news sure loves to whip people in a frenzy for those ratings. This is pretty much Channel 7 last night and this morning:

I love Erika. She's doing good work. It was hot as fuck down here. I was way past Gold Bond and then we got this beautiful cloud cover and temperatures have dropped to below Africa. No longer sweating like a runaway slave, more like a good house slave that has it better than the others but still not the best living situation but nonetheless appreciates his position despite all its inherent inadequacies.

Whatever you are feeling in Tampa has nothing to do with Erika.

I feel like this cloud cover is Erika's PR agent, sent ahead in adavance to prep us for her coming.

One one hand, it will be nice to get some needed rain from Tropical Storm Joaquin around DC but on the other, anything outside of the norm really screws up everything around here and these things can drop a ton of rain.

Dammit, I don't want to deal with a hurricane. This thing needs to stop heading toward the coast.

It popped up as a hurricane pretty quickly. I like how yesterday they were just calling for it to be a TS, now they have it as a hurricane heading to the east coast.
I think that El Nino is really messing with things.

The cold front that moved through Atlanta today/tomorrow should keep it out to sea. Maybe some significant rain in the DC area, but I do not see it making that turn like this model shows on Sunday evening.

If that happens would Harbaugh channel his inner Ditka?

Edit: Apparently we cannot include HTML and this shitty version is the only one I found on YouTube.

I guess I should thank Chip Kelly for making the Eagles shitty.    I was supposed to be in DC this week for Iggles-Skins.  Just got changed to Vikes-Broncos last night.

I just bought tickets to Florida for a trip at the end of February. Should I be more worried about a hurricane or about flying on Frontier Airlines?

Yeah, I'd be pretty damn scared of a hurricane in February. Like end-of-the-world type scared.

Hurricane Joaquin caused the Terps to go for a noon start instead of 8 p.m.

They aren't even on the dirty side. I guess you can't take chances, but the 11 am advisory pushed the cone to the east. It wouldn't surprise me if it stays out to sea the whole time. Depending on the Jet stream, it could act like a barrier and there wouldn't even be rain.

Watching weather channel. They're not doing a very good job of covering Patricia IMO. Where are the mic'd-up idiots trying to keep their balance in the winds?
