Seriously, this is a big decision for me.

On one hand, I really enjoyed the first three seasons. The fourth season started getting a little stale, then the fifth season was just not doing it for me.

On the other hand, the series does have a conclusion, so there might be a payoff if I keep going.

I'm tempted to just look at the the Wiki and see how the series ends but then I'll close the door.

Thoughts? TIA

Started watching a couple of months ago and I'm somewhere in the middle of season 6 right now. No intention of stopping even though I have vague idea of how ends.

My only other thought is the Jennifer Carpenter is not hot, no matter how you slice it.

I've considered starting the series now that I've finished Breaking Bad and some others.

The only thing I know about the series is that the finale was universally panned.

In the last couple seasons you get to see Yvonne Strahovski, it's really the only redeeming quality.

That's when I stopped... I thought the Trinity season ending was perfect. From everything I've heard, I'm kinda glad I didn't stick with the show til the bitter end.

I have the last season sitting on a hard drive.
I also have about 20 episodes of stuff on now... and "True Detectives" entire first season. And "The league's" latest season. Me thinks I wont make it around to it. ( & GOT's current season will be done and completed before I get through the stuff I have... which will add to the list)

This is the problem with having an aware 3 year old with a later bedtime.

Finished it last night. On the whole, probably enjoyed seasons 6-7 the least, with the exception of Hannah McKay. I thought season 8 was an interesting way to wrap up the show, with the emergence of Harry's friend Dr. Vogel, but the last 15 minutes were godawful.

The last seasons didn't match the early ones, but were still better than 95% of the other stuff on. Agree on Jennifer Carpenter. Not hot, not interesting, not a great actress, but that was the case from Season 1 on .

The show ran way too long. Four seasons would've been perfect. Every season was basically the same, just plug in new antagonists. What made a show like Breaking Bad so brilliant was that it was a well written story with a beginning, middle and end. It flowed perfectly. Seems like a simple enough construct but a lot of writers can't execute it.

I couldn't believe how sloppy the writing got after season 4 (which was my favorite season). It kept going downhill each season.

Biggest letdown of all time. Stop after season 4. It was all over when they tried to give Dex feelings. They lost that social awkwardness which really gave the show something unique. That and the ending must have been written while all the writers were food poisoned running to the nearest shitter.

Re-reading this thread is making me reflect a bit, it's really unbelievable how bad a show it turned out to be once Dexter killed John Lithgow. The whole Deb-centric theme they went with was nauseating, Dexter's constant wrestling with his identity was way drawn out and the fact that he kept getting into relationships with girls who sucked after being completely asexual for the first couple seasons was annoying.
