Oh my God, fuck Mitch Albom.

Stupid fuckin' Albom book just begging to be made into a stupid fuckin' movie.

He is so terrible.  And part of me really hates him because I could write better than his formulaic garbage with half my brain removed, but I never went after it.

Maybe you could give us some of the key points, so we don't have to follow the link?

Mitch sucks, Ted Nugent and Paul Stanley were there. It's a book about a fictional guitar player who touched the lives of a bunch of real "musicians". It's another fucking iteration of Tuesdays with Morrie.

Albom is a decent writer. He ran into credibility problems when the heartwarming story of the fab five was later exposed as the fraud five when Ed Martin was finally arrested. Also thought he could be two places at once and got caught.

I do admire him for recognizing he wasn't going to be a success in NYC, going to Detroit and after milking multiple books out of covering umaa leaving sports to write other books. Like him or hate him he knows what it took to make him a successful commercial author and that's hard to do in the internet age. He knows what to do to be a financial success.

There is nothing rational about saying "Mitch Albom is a decent writer."

I enjoyed his columns and longer stories early in his career at the freep. As someone noted, it all became forulaic. His fellating of Bo and the Fraud Five became too much to stomach.

I actually listened to and enjoyed his radio show longer than I did his freep work. He would get some great interviews and it was new and interesting. But once Morrie was released, he became a douche on the radio, too. I know his books are/were extremely popular, but IMO, they come across as Hallmark Channel pablum. I'm not surprised his Walmart wolverine fan base can't get enough of it.

Hallmark Channel is must-see TV this time of year.

Rocinante you have some big issues, are you aware of the amount of money that Mitch donates and raises for several charities and the difference this makes to peoples lives? maybe you don't like his writing or his opinions about sports but the good that he does trumps everything. I am not a fan of his sports opinions and like most Spartan's I don't read but his charities make a difference in peoples lives and maybe one day yours.

Filling a column with hackneyed jokes about gender identity, biological parents and more reasons college has “changed since 50 years ago” doesn’t seem like the smartest move, but apparently no one told Mitch Albom that. Albom, the long-time Detroit Free Press columnist (where he’s previously gotten in trouble for fabricating a story about players attending a game as well as self-plagiarism), decided to write a column along those lines this week, and it’s so, so bad.

I usually like his articles but that one is terrible, no doubt. I didn't even get half way through it and I was disgusted. Was he trying to be funny or facetious there? It was just stupid.
