All LAUSD schools closed after bomb threat called in to board member, police say

Officials have closed all Los Angeles Unified School District campuses Tuesday morning after a bomb threat was called in to board member, roiling the nation's second-largest school district.

Authorities said they plan a search operation of all LAUSD schools after an "unspecified threat was received."

Bunch of damned sissies, we went to school every day with the threat of Russkie nukes over our heads. Kids were tougher then, we did our drills and went on with our day.

Odd that they call a board member. Why not call the school directly? Plus, terrorists just kill without warning. Something seems hinky. Either a student or the board member looking for attention.

couple of weeks ago, East Lansing HS sent out an email about some graffiti in the bathroom and rumors of something going down on a Friday. They obviously went through the ELPD, maybe the State Police, etc and determined that there was no credible threat - though it is still a bit unnerving.

My daughter (sorry For bin) said there were a lot of kids absent that day.

Looking back on it all these years later, those drills were hilarious. In our school we actually went to an interior hallway and sat with out backs against the wall. I imagine that's a lot safer than hiding from a nuke under your desk.

@pantry, maybe the tornado drill is what I was thinking of and not the nuke drill. Half a century a long time ago.

The easy call is to close the schools and deal with the backlash. If you don't close the schools and god forbid the threat is carried out, no one will forgive.

Opposite of this is not doing anything even a small bomb going off, hurting a few children and watching the outrage taking place over not doing anything. People would get fired and go to jail
