Blanch, while I do appreciate the kudos, I'm not sure I agree with your thinking here. There isn't much doubt that the committee selected the right four teams. It's not their problem that MSU failed to show up against Bama.

Clemson ended up beating OU by 20, so one could argue that OU also didn't belong, but again, it's not the committee's job to guarantee all four teams will show up.

This is blanches most brilliant post ever. I think we should play the playoffs every year. Then, if there are blowouts, we should say "oh shit we fuckrd up". We're going to make them do it again against a different team so it's closer. If that game isn't close, they have to play again till it's like a one score game.

Given that we lost 38-0, you could easily make the argument that ten other teams would've done better than us against that Bama team. But that's not the same as saying the committee should've put any of those ten other teams in the playoffs ahead of us. At least I hope that's not what you're saying.

I'm not big on conference pride either (each team for its own!), but I can't say that I agree with you here either. Are you talking top to bottom, or just the top? Top to bottom the SEC is the best, no question. After that who really cares? As far as the top of the P5 last year, are you really saying that the top 4 teams in the Pac12 were better than OSU, MSU, Iowa and UM? Or that OU, BU, TCU and OkSt were better than OSU, MSU, Iowa and UM?

Clemson, NC and FSU? No.

Bama, FL, Ole Miss and LSU? No.
