I am in the minority that I like Shia as a young Indy. The movie thanked as a whole was terrible, but Shia was good.

Wasn't River Pheonix slated to be the "new" Indiana Jones up until he died? Or am I remembering that wrong just because he had that cameo in Last Crusade?

Yup. I'm probably totally wrong, but I thought I remember rumors of him taking over the franchise from Ford back then, but that idea kinda petered out, just like George Lucas's career.

it's possible.. I guess there are some movie personas who has different stars over the years (James Bond, etc).. I don't really watch movies, but at least I know that.

Welp, then they could use his skeleton or just his skull in the new movie. It would still be a better performance than anything Shia LePoo would give, and what's an Indiana Jones movie without skeletons?

He played Young Indy in the Last Crusade.  Would seem weird to then have him inherit the franchise after already being established.
