Garry Shandling Signs Off

Thanks for all of the laughs, Garry.  You will be missed.

I hope he takes his extra "r" with him.

Larry Sanders show was brilliant.

Whoops, I mistook him for the 'Gary Shandling' that played for Kentucky. Fixed.

What inspired him to become a comedian? Got some encouragement from the master George Carlin.

'Shandling enrolled at the University of Arizona to study electrical engineering, eventually switching his major to marketing. He had developed an interest in comedy writing, and while still a college student he tracked down stand-up comedian George Carlin at a Phoenix nightclub. Carlin looked over some of Shandling's material, and encouraged him to continue honing his craft. '

A shame he dropped off the scene after 'The Larry Sanders' show. Would have loved to have seen him take a stab at a feature length film or another HBO Series.

He had a tiny role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a Senator who ended up being connected to HYDRA. He was in "Iron Man 2" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
