Rec Kayaks?
Kayaks, Sit-on-top or Traditional?
What says tBob?
I bought a sit on top model from my boss over the winter because I got a hell of a deal but last weekend I used one of my buddy's traditional style recreational boats, a Viper, so i could attach a GoPro camera
After the trip I was torn. I like my boat but I also really liked sitting right at or below the waterline. I felt like I had more control because I could really dig into the turns. The awesone bottle holder and plenty of room for empties were also pluses.

Bro. Did you even put the skirt on? You're not yakking if you didn't put the skirt on.

Flat water only so far, bro. Once I get my sea legs I'll skirt up my buddy's Pelican and hit those bodacious rapids I've heard so much about in Williamston.

I have the kind you have and love it. I also have holes for fishing poles, a live well and seat backs.Jaheab wrote:What says tBob?

Traditional. Something about the water being right there because you're borderline too fat for the boat... very peaceful.

Dolph, I hear you man.
I shot this video on my buddy's traditional between Lansing and Grand Ledge but since I have been rocking the sit-on-top, much better for fishing.

I have sea kayaks and a sit on top tandem. I can't do the sea kayaks any more because of poor circulation/bad back. It is a pain in the ass to get in and out and I don't want to deal with this skirt. I don't mind getting wet. But I am only getting a small fraction of the performance for that tradeoff of comfort so if that is not an issue for you than you could get the sit in.

Dimondale just installed a kayak launch for those that like to stay dry. Take Holt Rd west until it dead ends just past JB's Party Store (FYI, Holt Rd turns into Washington once you enter Dimondale and it dead ends at Danford Park.)

I'd like to get a kayak for fishing in LSC. But, I'm thinking going alone kayak fishing may be a bad idea. Thoughts from the peanut gallery?
