Do you think alcohol sales in Spartan Stadium is a good idea?
Alcohol Sales in Spartan Stadium
Do you approve or disapprove the thought of beer being served on game days in Spartan Stadium?

For my own selfish reasons I voted yay. I understand the fear of over serving and possible fans being a bit out of control. But I assume many of you, like myself, can handle their alcohol intake. I certainly woul love to buy a cold Budweiser during a hot September home game at SS.

Not like half the student body isn't already three sheets to the wind walking into SS. Hell yes let me buy a beer!

Sure there would be a little overindulgence at first, but as the novelity of selling beer in SS wears off, I think that would go away also.
Bowl games sell alcohol without problems, I don't see what MSU can't sell it without problems also.

I vote no, not because I'm against it but just because MSU would handle it poorly like they do with the rest of their concessions.

Re: Alcohol Sales in Spartan Stadium
I resent the fact that the "royalty" up in the private boxes and the Spartan club seats get to drink. I don't give a damn how much they pay. If the schmuck in Sec 10 Row 50 can't have a couple of beers during the game, then no one should.
And Hollis wonders why people aren't filling up the stadium. Its not just the beer thing, its the entire catering to big donors and telling the average fan to fk themselves in terms of comfort and convenience. Whether is parking, music, kegs, game times, ticket prices- the average fan comes LAST.
It is what it is, and that why more and more, people are either at the Bar or in their Living Room instead of in the stadium.

Bingo. Can you imagine the clusterfuck of trying to card people, cut them off and all the things that go with alcohol sales ? They have issues selling you a hot dog and beer sales would be a nightmare.

I chose both options. The university should officially not allow it but it should be sold on the dl black market style to limit it

This is about 15 years overdue. If ever people needed to drink to make through the game, it was when Bobby and Slappy were coaching.

Voted Yes
But watchout for a new round of outrage about tailgating.
If MSU gets an official beer vendor for in stadium sales its probable that sponsor will want to be the sole beer provider in tailgate areas adjacent to the stadium and very few will like that idea.

im way more worried about the anti tailgating problems than I am drinking at the game itself tbh. It doesn't take too much to glue a couple of mini bottles to my junk anyway, and it's kinda sexy.

I feel sorry for the person sitting next to Blanch at a game where alcohol can be purchased.

Re: Alcohol Sales in Spartan Stadium
I went to the KDerby a few years ago, and Louisville Stadium is prominent on the horizon. I was like "WTF", it was impressive. A dude sitting next to me told me about it. They sell beer, not only for college games, but high-school games and the attendance is enormous. It really changed my thinking. Sell the beer (but only after you put some goddamn teller system in all of the concessions to dumb-ass people can tally an order in seconds vs. minutes).

part of me thinks it's sort of a bad idea.. but that's only because I'm kinda old and a bit of a traditionalist.. the other part of me thinks that if you want to pay $9.00 for a 16 oz of Budweiser, more power to you.

Man, I usually use the game to sober up for the ride home. That would throw my party plans all out of whack.

Good to know the residents of EL resent what makes that city/a town/whatever the fuck it is.

I mean I'm pro selling beer in the stadium but the bathroom situation there is so bad I would try to avoid doing anything that would make me have to go to the bathroom.

I’m still pro gluing mini bottles to my junk.
Or just wearing soccer socks and putting a pint or two in there. It’s not hard if you really want to drink at the game.
Hell, even if they sold beer it would be 12+ for a can and putting a pint in your soccer socks would be advisable anyway. Who cares.

when is the last time you were in Spartan Stadium? Every since the North end zone remodel, it has been great. I believe they did the South end zone too, but I don't travel down that way.

Re: Alcohol Sales in Spartan Stadium
Radio show this morning was talking about the changes at UF. Basically, you can donate $25k over 5 years to have the privilege to drink at the stadium. If you do drink, you're escorted to a room with no windows and you can't see the field. When you're done, then you can return to wherever you came from. Or maybe that was Georgia, probably Georgia.
