Biggest icons of your generation
Ok I'm bored again, and this place is fucking dead.
The death of Purnce has me thinking, who are the biggest icons in your lifetime/generation? Could be sports, Hollywood, Bollywood, porn, music songs, whatever. Don't have to like them, but simply are there "icons" in any arena whose popularity was so vast that it went beyond normal parameters.
I think for my generation (I'd say mid 30's to early 40's in current age) there are two that pretty clearly stand alone - MJ and MJ.
Whatcha got?

Tiger is a pretty good one.
Not sure about Cobain but my opinion probably doesn't count because I was never really into music. I feel like he was only popular for kind of a short time before he offed himself, and even when alive he only appealed to a subset. Granite, he led an entire movement that basically completely fucked over my generation's college experience in certain regards, so maybe I'm just bitter. Where the fuck were yoga pants in the mid 90's? That shit is YOUR fault Cobain. Asshole.

Re: Biggest icons of your generation
Curry is a bit premature. Waaay premature. He's insanely huge right now and rightfully so. But there has to be some kind of sustained excellence for him to become a generational-type icon.
Penny Hardaway was an icon otherwise.

Cosby was the shit. I just can't marry the guy I know he was now and the guy I thought he was then. His fall from grace was like a death to me. That guy was my stand-in dad growing up in a single parent home.
I hated finding that shit out.
