I'm not even sure if I'd vote Grand Rapids as the best city in Western Michigan.

I'll take Traverse City over any city in Michigan. In fact, the entire NW from Ludington to Petosky area.

I like Pittsburg better than grand rapids. Haven't been to enough cool American cities though, I'd love to get out to Kansas city, okc, Austin, Madison, twin cities and st. Louis within the next few years.

I love the state of Michigan. I am wearing a state of Michigan belt buckle right now. I would vote for Mancelona for best city before GR.

GR will win their first round game then get smoked in round two.  It's a pretty cool place I admit, but when I look around the tourney I see two cities that can take it all the way.

Jackson, WY and Asheville, NC

There are some towns that aren't mentioned that are better but those two are rock solid.

Voted for Omaha because upset.

I live in GR and like it here, but let's face it, we are over-seeded as a 2.

Asheville should have been a 1, hands down. Awesome town.

Of course GR can't hold a candle to NYC or Chicago, but for it's size, I would put GR up against anyone.

As for those of you bemoaning the churchy/amway lifestyle; you clearly haven't been to the city in 15 years.

I like GR. Good bars and restaurants, nice downtown.

Grand Rapids is alright, but way too much time is spent trying to convince skeptical outsiders that it's anything more than a third rate regional Midwestern city(which it is).
