Couldn't find a Gary Johnson thread. I like him. Let's bicker about him, Roc/Turtleneck/Dwags and co.

Re: Gary Johnson
He is cool. He was mentioned in another thread. Getting lots of attention right now. Actually said he likes Sanders the most of the three still standing. He said he is the opposite of Sanders on economic issues, but has lots of common ground on social issues.
He is a tri-athlete and has done some endurance races, too. He is a good choice for the five Rs who actually believe in limited government.
He has been beating up on Trump in interviews. I think he get some votes in November. Very good alternative.

I didn't know about his athletic prowess. He's running as a Libertarian, though, and with more and more people "identifying" as independent (I know, I know)... I think he appeals to more than just the Republican party. I split with Libertarians on a few issues but if I agree with you more than half the time, I'm inclined to break my vow and cast a vote.
That interview with Joe is a good one. Probably won't appeal to those that want to bully their neighbors, though...

Generally speaking, yes, but I was referring to this election. If will be disaffected Rs that give him any boost/support beyond consistent libertarians on Election Day.

You're probably right. I have the pipe dream that the social aspects of Libertarianism will appeal to disaffected D's at some point. It'll never happen because of that desire to bully their neighbors but a boy can dream, can't he?
Another interview with my boy Dave Rubin, easier to manage at just over 20 minutes...

things are good.. laid back weekend, etc. Worked out a lot, drank some beer.. cranked music. Enjoyed the sun. Briefly went to the East Lansing Art Festival until I couldn't take much more (I was there about 3 minutes) - ended up at the Tin Can for 24 oz cans of Old Style with a buddy.xsanguine wrote:Good to see you, Bob! The problem with Johnson is that he trades, in the word of X, one slave master for another.

Re: Gary Johnson
I'm in a constant battle with the concept of voting. I don't believe individual freedoms should be decided by others. I find it offensive to have others decide what you're allowed to do and also offensive that others get to choose what to do with your resources, hence my reference to election year being the time when everyone votes to bully their neighbors. On the other hand... That's the current reality so if there's a chance at moving it in the direction of allowing people to live their lives as they choose then you have to play this antiquated game. Libertarians are as close as it gets to maximizing freedoms with as little coercion as possible...
I've always voted in the past but I'm not going to stand in line to play this rigged game unless there's a possibility that game can be unrigged. Very doubtful, Libertarianism doesn't have enough "give everyone freebies!" And it doesn't have enough "let's bomb the Mooslims and be mean to gays!", so... I just find the discussions entertaining.

Sounds like a fun! I woulda chosen the beer, too. I've been busy and will probably be picking up... I was anticipating being a bit more busy by now but it hasn't happened quite yet.

It won't be anywhere near as smooth as that, that guy is good. Us peckerwoods don't have dancing in our culture/upbringing. I may be able to pull off the sprinkler or lawnmower, though.

This is great. Both Clinton haters and Trump haters are going to the same third party. He takes away the votes equally as shown by polls. Assures a Trump win. Thanks! #45thPresidentTrump

Re: Gary Johnson
It does not assure a Trump win. Especially if likely R voters are the majority of new Johnson voters.
Johnson is a believer in limited government, unlike Trump who does not understand the concept of natural rights. Trump is philosophically bankrupt like one of his casinos. He is a joke and his supporters are a bunch of oxygen thieves.
Do those white outfits need to be dry cleaned or can they go in the wash? Are logos screen printed or stitched on?

Gary Johnson has his vp pick: William Weld wins the nomination on the second ballot with 50.57% of vote.
Two term Governor of Mass in the 90s. Also former ambassador to Mexico. Doubt he wants to build a wall.

He has said multiple times the wall idea is stupid, and he seems to really hate Donald Trump. Johnson and Weld do a much better job explaining why Trump is a problem than either Bernie or Clinton.
