Prior to Dantonio's arrival, the Spartans had one 10-win season since 1965. He's recorded double-digit wins in three straight seasons, and five out of the last six, while compiling a record of 87-33.

"I think our brand is extremely strong right now," Dantonio said in February. "When you look across this country, when you talk about the Spartan brand, I think it's very well recognized."

Michigan State has earned more national attention and while it hasn't led to top-10 recruiting classes, the results are there for everyone to see. Since a somewhat bumpy start to Dantonio's tenure when he posted a record of 22-17 the first three seasons, the Spartans have won four of their last five bowl games and finished ranked in the top six in the Associated Press poll each of the last three years. That speaks to the "process" that Dantonio referenced when talking about recruiting and his program on national signing day in February.

"People want to come be a part of something special," he said. "They want continuity, they want trust, they want focus, they want to win, they want a great education experience, they want to participate in athletic facilities that are up to this level and they want to have an opportunity, quite frankly, to go to the NFL. And, we're putting guys in the NFL on a regular basis. Those are the reasons behind a lot of what you see."
