I disagree prob. Gawker has changed the way stories are reported for the better. Gawker, when reporting news, checked sources, backed up claims with links (something many other news sources refused to do for a long time) and called bullshit when a story was bullshit.

I will miss it.

Deadspin is staying put. Whew.

Backed up claims of useless clickbait geared towards the lowest common denominator of society. Look, I admit, I look at Jalopnik, Deadspin, etc multiple times daily...but when it comes to Gawker itself I hold my nose due to the pungent smell of bad journalism and identity politics. Good riddance.

Please explain the term identity politics. I don't get it. I might come around to your way of thinking of you make a good argument. I have never gotten the hate for Gawker. Yes a lot of crap, but sprinkled with a lot of decent stuff and clearly has been influential to new media journalism.
