I don't think that's true. I saw the Mackinac Island in Winter special and you're right--it was heavy on the pleas for your donate. But that's because it was a special showing of something recording 6-7 years ago. When they aired encore performances of Downton Abby, there were breaks to ask for cash. But, when Downton was in first-run status, there weren't the interruptions you're wailing about now.
