"We want you to keep going with the incredible innovation," Trump said. "There's no one like you in the world....you can call my people, call me — it makes no difference — we have no formal chain of command around here"

With all the recent successes (the last 20 years) of the US Government it's really, really scary to see someone try something different.

In the last 20 years we have seen more Americans insured, end 1000's of US troops stationed in Iraq that was supposed to be less than a 12 month adventure. bin Laden was killed, Medicare Part B, minimal raises in taxes and between Clinton, Bush2 and Obama job creation, a world wide recession and recovery of jobs lost and more.
I don't thnk a return to regulations and business laws more similar to the Gilded Age where a selected few in big business ruled is an option.

Well except that even 538 will tell you that the jobs HAVEN'T been replaced. We still have troops in Iraq and numerous other countries.
As I've said multiple times to deaf ears around here, I'm willing to give the guy a chance. We've heard all of the scare crap about picking his cabinet slower etc, that turned out to be not true.
If he fails, he fails. It's not like this country hasn't weathered a failed Presidency before.
This silly pick, pick, pick weeks and months before he's actually President is stupid. It's like people are big babies, can't accept the outcome of the election and want to re-litigate the whole thing again.

Interesting, Twitter wasn't at the tech meeting.
Anyone care to speculate?

They have a nasty habit of shutting down Conservative accounts. Not "alt right" but people like Glenn Reynolds, Jim Geraghty, Eric Erikson.

So you don't do much reading on the "right", why am I not surprised? Glenn Reynolds is Instapundit, 10M pageviews a month or so. Jim Geraghty is a long time writer at National Review. Erik Erickson founded "Red State" eventually sold it and now has a syndicated radio show and blogs at The Resurgent.

Glenn Reynolds left twitter willingly after a twitter gaff where he said people should "run down" protesters in Charlotte. He later apologized.
The other two have twitter accounts that seem to be active.

Spot on. This was a change election. Politicians no longer serve the American public or fight for us.
This was also a culture war thing. The academic media types telling people what to think and belittling them if they disagree failed. Every time Lena Dunham or Katy Perry campaigned for Hilary she lost votes.
Democrats in their fit of rage are now backing political losers like fighting trump on china and balking when he saves American jobs.
The right used to always fall for the trap of publicly backing political losers that people were against. Trump changed everything.

I know that about Mr. Reynolds. And your description leaves out some context. He said that rather than STOP when they might get beaten like Reginald Denny they should keep going and run over people IF NECESSARY - not on purpose. Big difference of trying to protect your family versus wantonly running people down.
But the point is/was that all of them have been shut down once or more than once by Twitter. The fact that the accounts are active now doesn't change that.

Sure sounds like a crazy man.....
‘I’m Here to Help,’ Trump Tells Tech Executives
‘I’m Here to Help,’ Trump Tells Tech Executives
The meeting between President-elect Donald J. Trump and the nation’s tech elite was hyped as something out of “The Apprentice”: The new boss tells his minions to shape up. It turned out to be a charm offensive, a kind of “Dancing With the Silicon Valley Stars.”
“This is a truly amazing group of people,” the president-elect said on Wednesday in a 25th-floor conference room at Trump Tower in Manhattan. The gathering included Jeff Bezos of Amazon; Elon Musk of Tesla; Timothy D. Cook of Apple; Sheryl Sandberg of Facebook; Larry Page and Eric Schmidt of Alphabet, Google’s parent company; and Satya Nadella of Microsoft, among others. “I’m here to help you folks do well,” Mr. Trump said.
He kept going in that vein. “There’s nobody like you in the world,” he enthused. “In the world! There’s nobody like the people in this room.” Anything that the government “can do to help this go along,” he made clear, “we’re going to be there for you.”

Trump has a long history of fluffing individuals at face to face meetings.
Speaking in superlatives is his schtick.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with how they're going to be running his businesses soon.

Re: "No Formal Chain of Command Around Here"
When are you guys going to stop spamming every topic with this nonsense about Trump causing a shift in voters and the rallying cry of rural America?
Trump did not win this election by converting moderates or rallying a large % of non-voters or new voters. Trump got the same voters that always vote Republican, who have more consistent turnout. He got less votes than Romney for fucks sake, Trump wasn't and isn't that likable of a candidate.
He won because Hillary is even less likable, and an unexciting candidate for a democratic base hungry for a progressive, with a poor campaign strategy which resulted in far too many voters staying home.

All true.
So why do you think all three of his oldest children and his son-in-law needed to be at the meeting with the corporate leaders of the tech world?
