She hit him 1st so that's the excuse but his reaction was way over the top.
He wasn't hurt and could have simply walked away. He was in no way

more of a generalization for ya: welcome to sports? the world? I don't know - society puts $(sports) over everything. it is what it is.

If Mixon was a 'regular' student, he'd be kicked out of the university minimum. Maybe he would have some kind of plea deal to not be charged with something requiring jail time as a first offender, but he wouldn't be a student.

Football is more important than a few battered women in the eyes of many people. 5 stars cover a multiple of sins.

If I read the first paragrapgh of the link correctly, 30-40 journalists saw the video in September '15. If that's the case, Stoops had to at least be be aware that the video existed.

If Stoops didn't see the video, I would liken it to Paterno's willfully keeping himself ignorant of the facts.

Yeah you can say he should have been kicked off the team and I am sure there is plenty of public outrage now that they have seen it on video. That is always an easy stance to take when it is someone else.

Mixon didn't push her away or walk away. He followed up her assault with a punch that broke her jaw and other bones in her face. In a lot of other states that would have been assault with intent and a felony.

Mixon got a break. The people who don't deserve a break are all the journalists covering OU football who wrote very little and didn't ask tough questions of OU's AD , Bob Stoops or the DA until weeks before what will be Mixon's last college game.

How did they shroud the information if he was convicted of a crime? That information is publicly available. The journalists were allowed to see the video - what were they supposed to report? Well yeah. As I recall he had a tough upbringing and kicking him off the team would have been the easy way out for Dantonio. But instead he wanted to make a difference in a young man's life by having him a part of the MSU football team.
