Mark's Road Trip
NCAA tourney chair hitting the road, literally, to prepare for Selection Sunday - Mark Hollis plans to cover 12 states and more than 3,800 miles, and watch a lot of basketball
What is the twist to this year's NCAA Tournament selection? Only two of the best words ever put together: rooooooad trip!
You know about March Madness, so now get to know "Mark Madness." This year's NCAA Tournament selection chair is Mark Hollis, athletic director at Michigan State and five-year committee member. He's the guy you'll see getting grilled on CBS after the field of 68 is revealed on March 12, otherwise known as another two-word phrase that's even better than road trip: Selection Sunday.
This is Hollis' last year on the committee. You had to figure he wouldn't stick to the routine of past chairs. Hop on some commercial flights and grind it out on red-eyes? That's not cool. You know what's cool? Blasting the Matchbox Twenty while dodging speeding tickets on I-81 as you make your way to catch a VCU game in person, something Hollis will do on Feb. 17. (Hollis also lists the "Hamilton" soundtrack and pop-rock act One Republic among his go-tos.)

I hate to go all moose on everyone.... but Mark has a day job, yeah? I mean, 3800 mile road trips are fun and all, but every game is on tv now. I'm not entirely sure that's necessary.

When I saw that you posted in this thread, I thought you were going to tell us all about the time you went to Ohio. You know, since you normally mention it in every thread.

You can't get $10,000 handshakes from a TV Travis.

I've driven through Dayton more than once turtleneck. Is that still where the "first four" is? Seems like a shithole.

You had the great baseball adventure. I'd love to do that someday.
After all the miles with my boys I've sorta sat home for a few years but actually just bought a Suburban with the thought of road tripping for a few weeks this summer or next. I used to take my kids and we'd sleep in the back of the 'Burb and/or in a little tent pitched next to it in the woods. They still talk about those trips so I want to do the same type of thing with my grandson whilst I can.
Thinking maybe late summer/early fall to Sturgis/Yellowstone/Grand Tetons.

Personally, I probably won't leave the house for a week. It will be that humiliating.

He can't have Amy Smart chase after him if he doesn't go on a road trip. Duh.
