Vice President Pence used a private email account that was later compromised while he served as governor of Indiana, his office confirmed Thursday.

The existence of the account was first reported by the Indy Star, which obtained copies of Pence's emails through a Freedom of Information request.

I'd like to ask that you keep this fine man of god in your thoughts and prayers..

Getting hacked isn't good....but unlike Federal law the personal email account isn't illegal in Indiana.

So....another nothingburger. Sorry to disappoint you Bob. It is kind of amazing how much you reacted to this compared to Hill's illegal email accounts.

If you started going through every state governor, lt. governor, state AG and state sec of state I think you'd find a significant number (more than 10%) have done what Pence did.

Some may just be sloppy, others trying to hide something from others but most are clueless on sophistication of hackers and what might be gleaned.

Richard Painter, former chief ethics lawyer to President George W. Bush, said it's bothersome that Pence is only now transferring his AOL emails to the state. It raises questions about whether those emails were included in previous responses to public records requests. "That’s a problem that should have been dealt with back then," he said. "The existence of the private email account should have been dealt with at the time the record requests were made."
