Cowboys to release Tony Romo.The Cowboys plan to release longtime QB Tony Romo on Thursday, the first day of the league year, sources tell ESPN. He will depart as the all-time franchise leader in passing yards and TDs.

But the decision to leave football already has been made. His run as the Cowboys' quarterback -- and an NFL player -- officially ends Tuesday.

Honestly, good for him. He's not the type that a team is going to bring on as the catalyst for a SuperBowl run. So he'd just go somewhere to hold the fort for a year or two until a team's draft pick is ready. Why bother? He's got millions of dollars, a wife, a couple of kids. It's not worth it, especially with so many serious injuries in his past. I'm sure he'd love to keep playing, but there comes a time when it's best to stop.

Agreed. Save the wear and tear. Can probably go from working six days a week to three days a week, plus a few hours here and there in the home office.
