Yeah, the Ryder Cup is the only golf that I try to make a point to watch. Not just the crowds, which are much better than a typical tournament, but because there's actually passion being shown by the players, rooting for their team mates, some bitterness and even jawing toward the opposition.

I suppose people are much more enthusiastic when they have a team to root for. But I have zero patriotic rooting interest in the United States beating other countries in golf.
If anything the Europeans seem more likeable because they might actually have personalities. The whole thing seems so contrived to me.

We had stacks of the very first Jordan basketball shoes on deep clearance during sidewalk sales at Vandervoorts around '86. Couldn't sell them at $5, couldn't give them away. Today, I could makes tens of thousands of dollars if I'd had the vision and cash to buy all those shoes up and store them.
