Wasnt there some dinner meal that all the cafs served in the 80s/90s that had Wisconsin in the title? Can't for the life of me remember. I never lived in the dorms and only ate there with friends on occasion when somebody would slip me his ID.

Greenway.

I remember the City chicken and what we called the Red Cedar baked turbot. And there was something Wisconsin. I can't think of it either.

Good memory, although your screen name might have been a clue. Whatever--it's appropriate you had the correct answer.

I was pretty stoked living in Spartan Village. It was cheap, 2 bedroom, included cable/internet/heat, and the buses ran through it every 10 minutes. It was interesting being a minority there, as asians and Indians were the most prevalent there. I loved it there. Now students have this fancy shit.

My youngest spent two years in Brody (chosen because it had the new cafeteria) 6-7 years ago and got into the University Village apartments their first year.  4 person 2 bdr/2 bath for $600/per and it included internet/cable and utilities.   They bumped the rent to $650 for year two.

It was still a deal and for two summers he stayed on campus taking classes and working a job on campus.  Because he was a resident his rent for the summer was one month's rent.

Now I see its up to $733 at University Apartments.  MSU is getting nearly $6600 per person unit for the 9 month lease/$26,300 per unit in a year.  No wonder they can include "free" washer/drying facilities onsite. Got to believe the new studios and townhomes will be even more.

He had multiple requests when a roommate graduated early.  Ended up with a HS buddy whose off campus apartment electric bill (very hot fall and spring the previous year) was almost $500 /mth for AC and internet overage from comacst was an extra $25.

PS
The first year of Brody Cafe was great.  Then it was discovered and it got to be so crowded with none students you couldn't find a place to eat.  After year one the food quality took a dive too.

UM daughter rented the top floor of an old house in AA with 3 friends junior year. It was fairly big but a complete POS. The landlord managed to carve it up into 7 units. After doing the math he was getting about $5K a month with a 12 month lease stipulation.

As previously stated, complete POS. Moved her in and out. There was nothing about that house that looked even close to code. The stairs going to daughter's unit went straight up about 20' when getting in the front door. Narrow treads and a railing on only one side. Looked like the landlord had been putting band-aids on it for years. Was very happy daughter made it out of there because it had death trap written all over it.

The two groups of women who turned me down most often during my dating career. Smart women.
