The most troubling issue that Wray may face is the fact that his law firm — King & Spalding — represents Rosneft and Gazprom, two of Russia’s largest state-controlled oil companies.
Rosneft was prominently mentioned in the now infamous 35-page dossier prepared by former British MI6 agent Christopher Steele. The dossier claims that the CEO of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, offered candidate Donald Trump, through Trump’s campaign advisor Carter Page, a 19% stake in the company in exchange for lifting U.S. sanctions on Russia. The dossier claims that the offer was made in July while Page was in Moscow.

It amazes me that this is an issue among enlightened people. Anyone that has been active internationally has "russian" ties. The only other choice would be to select someone that's been living in a cocoon. Then of course we'd hear how inexperienced and provincial they were.

The "only" other choice? Really?
Does an FBI director have to be "active" internationally to the extent that you stick up for their Russian ties as somehow being unavoidable?
That's preposterous. You're bending over backwards to make excuses for anything and everything.
Did Lieberman's law firm have Russian ties too? Or was he just bad because his law firm represented Trump? I mean...slight conflict of interest there...that any sane person would recognize before floating his name.
The new guy might have to recuse himself from any Russian investigation, because of his connections, and that's no big deal to you?

Isn't there someone in the upper echelon of the FBI that's been working there for years who might not have ties to Russia?

It's obvious Trump isn't working for the People; he's working for his business and his family.

What does he care if he makes decisions that only benefit himself and his friends? There isn't much I can do about it except maybe tell a pollster I don't like the job he's doing. Its not like Congress is doing anything about it either.LooseGoose wrote:tGreenWay wrote:It's obvious Trump isn't working for the People; he's working for his business and his family.

I deal with people from the UK all of the time. No Russian ties here. Reagan would be proud.

Re: Donald Trump's new FBI director pick has Russian ties of his own
Trump has chosen someone he thinks can be pushed around to do his bidding. That may not be the case but Trump wouldn't nominate someone who said to have an independent streak.
In 1953 the GOP encouraged Eisenhower to nominate a former head of the California Republican Party and Republican California governor Earl Warren to be Chief Justice of The Supreme Court. That bit them on the ass.
Trump's nominee may be more like Comey than Trump realizes. We can only hope because there aren't enough GOP spines in the Senate stop even the worst Trump nominees
