and yet 81% of 'christians' voted for an admitted sexual predator last year and will put a child molester into the US Senate next month.

When do we get to the point that Mike Pence is the only guy in America not accused of such behavior and it's only because he's a freak who refuses to be alone with women?

Re: Matt Lauer
Wonder how many high profile men are finally going to be found out?
Some may disagree but I think this is an unexpected outcome of Trump becoming President. A lot of women are mad as hell and aren't going to carry secrets to their grave.
I didn't like him after I found Lauer had been instrumental in running off the Today Show weather man because the guy didn't have a meteorology degree and later learned Lauer never completed his degree leaving school to work on TV.
But that was Matt Lauer being pompous which is almost required to be a daytime tv host.

my daughter actually brought that up - that the only positive thing about 'christians' electing a racist, bigoted sexual predator president is that it provided women the strength (fueled by anger) to come out to speak about their own stories.GRR Spartan wrote:Wonder how many high profile men are finally going to be found out?

Re: Matt Lauer
the other thing my daughter brought up is look at the men in the mainstream media who have been fired because of inappropriate sexual behavior toward women.. and reflect on how poorly the mainstream media treated Hillary Clinton.
so the misogyny and sexism doesn't stop when the actual inappropriate situations/acts are over.. it continues in the way the "news" is even covered.
(it's nice to live with smart, insightful women).

The Pence rule, a rule that assumes if a woman has had a drink and is left alone with Mike Pence she’s going to want to rip her clothes off and sleep with him.

Re: Matt Lauer
I have a Matt Lauer story. It's hearsay but I remembered it this morning.
A girl I know through some friends - she's their first cousin, and we have known each other though not well, for many years - had a story about him. This was probably early to mid 00's or so and she would have been in her mid to late 20's. She got married to some guy from Birmingham, and they went on their honeymoon to some tropical resort. Apparently, Lauer and his family/wife were there. I don't remember all of the exact details but Lauer at some point approached my friend's cousin and started kissing her after casual conversation. The new husband - not sure if he was right there and Lauer wasn't aware she was married, or witnessed this from a distance or something - apparently came up and socked Lauer in the face, giving him a black eye. I remember the rest of the story was that Lauer basically sheepishly had to apologize and own the black eye for the rest of the trip.
That's all I got. Never really gave it much thought until today.

I'm thinking there is some real bad stuff out there WBH. I totally believe that story and I know there is going to be way worse shit that comes out. Guy sounds like a real dick.
So many of the people who become famous, can't keep that fame in check. I guarantee you there are a ton more.

I'd say if you took a comb through pretty much any aspect of American society, we'd be shocked at what was found. It's just that with people like Lauer, Bill O'Reilly, the sexual predator, Charlie Rose, etc have a brighter light shining on them than the rest of us do.DWags wrote:I'm thinking there is some real bad stuff out there WBH. It's no surprise to hear of all this in the entertainment industry. Everyone's heard of the casting couch, even apart from porn flicks. Power and/or huge egos in an industry where people are desperate to get famous, is a terrible mix.DWags wrote:I'm thinking there is some real bad stuff out there WBH. I don't know if anger over Trump really is making these women come forward. Have any of the accusers said that Trump is the reason? It's actually kind of sad if that's the case, as that shouldn't be the impetus that makes them come forward. The Weinstein stuff is what really started the snowball. Specifically when it went beyond no-names, and some A list celebs also came forward about Weinstein. I think that emboldened women to come forward about other celebs, which emboldens more as they feel less alone. But that's a big inspiration having a Gweneth Paltrow saying that she was harassed. I feel that having a few A listers come forward is why the Weinstein stuff created such a snowball effect beyond Weinstein, unlike the Bill Cosby accusations.

I think the "attack the women" strategy employed by the sexual predator and the child molester makes it more difficult for women to come out. Not to mention how the immoral 'christian' right and their accomplices in the mainstream media minimizes their experiences and subsequent trauma.MiamiSpartan wrote:It's no surprise to hear of all this in the entertainment industry. as immoral as the mainstream media and Hollywood is, at least they handle their specific situations with firings, suspension, demotions, etc - versus reward them with being elected to office.
crazy world when the scumbags in the mainstream media/Hollywood are paragons of virtue when compared to right-wing 'christians'.

Re: Matt Lauer
Saw a couple of interesting tweets about NBC, that company employed Cosby, employed Trump while he was publicly making the false birtherism claim, Halperin where multiple people were aware of his abuse, let Trump host SNL while he was campaigning for the wall, and reading about Lauer Katie Couric commented he's always pinched her ass and the feud with Ann Curry demonstrates he's had issues with women for a long time.
I think it's safe to say as a company NBC has some serious issues they need to work out.

Yeah, the "acceptance" of Trump (at least by more electoral votes), and the bullying culture that he brings, could definitely have discouraged women from coming forward. That's also why I think that when people believed the Weinstein accusers, followed up by well-regarded A Listers adding their accusations, it made people realize that there is still outrage over such treatment (as long as it doesn't hurt people's political "team").Robert J Sakimano wrote:I think the "attack the women" strategy employed by the sexual predator and the child molester makes it more difficult for women to come out. In fact, these women coming forward with allegations against Hollywood and media members may be finding even more acceptance from Trump supporters (despite what Trump has done), because these accusations are against members of the Liberal Media and Hollywood Left, which are on the "other team".

Agreed. The right doesn't want Franken removed for what he did to women, they want him gone because he's on the other team.
They won't budge an inch when it's a molester or predator on their team, but when it's someone on the other team they cry for their removal. That's how low they are willing to go to win.
