That happens for a couple reasons.

1. People over there are upvote whores.
2. Half the people over there like to write a creepy personal message to each recruit. Saying welcome, or congrats is appropriate. But too many people over there write a personal letter to a teenager that they've never met.

One time I saw a post that was written as if it was a love letter to Brian Hoyer (I think it occurred after Manziel was drafted). I sent a PM to the author as a joke, saying that I was Brian Hoyer, and thanked him for his undying belief in me. Well, the guy actually thought I was Hoyer and sent me a PM back that was just effusive with it's praise. He even signed his full name, along with his seat row and number in Spartan Stadium. I sent him a PM back telling him that I wasn't Hoyer, to which he didn't respond.

Well, I don't think I pay as much attention to screen names as others might. I read the posts, not the name...unless I hate the post, or unless it's really funny.

I know that many people on these boards know at least a few people in real life who post here (or there). I don't, at least not knowingly. I don't want to reveal someone, because I generally troll when I get drunk, and maybe this guy was too. I don't want to cause any blow back in his real life. Hell, for all I know, he was trolling me. If so, kudos to him.

This is cool. Lumen Chrisiti is a good program so the kid will come in ready to compete for playing time.

But I do like recruiting updates, I remember when the RCMB went nuts over Jeff Smoker, but there is a happy medium, but long time lurkers and posters know that there is a long history of hysteria over recruits on the RCMB that goes way back.

He played at Lumen Christi, so maybe he’s going to enter the priesthood. Considering he’s walking away from millions of dollars, that would be quite a commitment.
