What'd you get for Christmas?
Hey Swillers,
Merry Christmas. I love you all.
Anywell, what are some standout gifts that you might have gotten?
My haul:
Christopher Nolan 4K Bluray Collection AWWWW YEAH
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
Star Wars Battlefront II
Battlefield 1
1-yr Xbox Live membership
John Wick 2 4K Bluray
Goodfellas 4K Bluray
Hat/gloves - needed some new ones/lighter ones
Pretty stoked about this Christmas, other than taking 2 hours to get from the Indiana border to north of Kalamazoo yesterday....

Gift certificate to Lowe's. A couple of hoodies. A joint present to my wife and I, a little statue of a husband and wife holding a newborn that was more for my wife. We don't do much for presents anymore. That'll change next year when the kid is one year old.

I thought there was a huge uproar over BFII and its basically a rip off with micro transactions teaching kids to gamble.
I got a $700 bill from the dealership when I took my car in for a recall, so that killed any type of presents for my wife and I.

You can't absorb a $700 car repair bill? You poor bro?

LFL in Mio? Kids cruise by on the snowmobiles on the way home from the bar and stop along the county highway to borrow a Dr. Seuss book?

The last one I had was in an even smaller town and it was reasonably busy. We'll see, got to get it installed and stocked. I try to have some kids stuff, some history, some romances, etc. Hopefully anyone can find something interesting. I'd ask for suggestions but suspect that wouldn't go well.

I'm just being snarky. Good deal. Did one of your kids actually build one for you? Or can you buy them already constructed or something?

They built this one from stuff they had leftover from some remodeling this summer but I think you can buy kits.

Re: What'd you get for Christmas?
I got an awesome desk lamp (seriously this thing is tits. It has all these different light 'temperature' settings and brightness settings. It's pretty much the coolest thing I own) and the promise of my love to marry me. I also got a house filled with family and friends laughing and having fun while Christmas music filled the air. It was a really good holiday.
Edit: oh yeah and two flannels.

Atari 2600 remake thingy with like 100+ classic games. Pretty cool retro gift for someone that grew up with an Atari.

As suspected and entirely predictable. Won't happen since I try not to include anything I've not read.

Yeah, played a little of that. River Raid was always one of my favorites, so it was cool playing that again.WhiteBoyHatcher wrote:I bought one of those for the kids. They are playing Space Invaders right now.

Lol, we got that last year. I think the games really are exactly the same?
Funny thing my kids just loved the basketball game and played it for hours. I played some Asteroids and Missle Command. Then it collected dust for 350 days. Can't believe I spent hours/All nighters/years playing that thing.
It is still really cool but you just can't recapture it. Fuck nostalgia

Re: What'd you get for Christmas?
I got some beer. A couple Amazon gift cards. A few shirts. A new wallet. That's about it. We really don't buy a lot of gifts for the adults in our family. It's more about the kids.
My favorite gift this year was actually a gift for my daughter, a Wii with a shitload of games from Santa. I never had a Wii so I'm loving Mario Kart. As a family we've already spent multiple hours racing that game. Good times!

Re: What'd you get for Christmas?
Some new shirts, sweatshirts, socks, shit like that, mostly. Also got some cash and a new pan that I will have scratched to fuck within a month. Pretty uneventful, but you take what you get when you refuse to give anyone a list. I don't care so much about getting shit anymore, not really sure when that changed. Used to be all I could think about from November on.

It happens when you realize you've really got enough or too much shit and don't need anything else.

Get cast iron, Cam. If you use enough butter or oil, shit doesn't stick to it, and you don't need to worry about consuming flakes of teflon.

Yep, agreed. My resolution for 2018 is to get rid of a ton of shit. We are holding a yard sale, I’m going to donate a bunch of shit and I’m going to try to dump a few things off on eBay. I guess this year I got some things for the new house that are going to be handy but for the most part I don’t want shit like I used to.
