Is Cheddar the best cheese?

So many uses. So good.

Also great when mixed with other cheeses.

Tough to pick one cheese but I'll go with Swiss. Many varieties with different flavors from very mild to very sharp. Textures ranging from soft to extra hard. Aromas mild to pungent. Great in salads, sandwiches, baked dishes, or right off a cheese plate with some cold gin.

For me, it’s going to be a super extra totally creamy havarti, or an extra smelly sharp provolone.

Yeah, I'll take provolone over cheddar too.

Cheddar is the Bud Lite of cheeses.

Raclette.

Might not be the best, but put blueberry Stilton on a ginger cracker and you pretty much have a blueberry cheesecake.

I’ll also add my favorite hard cheese is Reypanaer, made in the Netherlands. A few different varieties and ages. They have a couple of stores/tasting rooms in Amsterdam. Wine is provided. Highly recommend. I don’t think it’s carried by anyone in the US, but you can place an order online.

Cheese is so much better with gin than wine.

Provolone is the best.

Mozzarella is probably second best.

I watched a food show or doc, maybe Bourdains show on cheese and how its made in some weird area. It was actually fascinating.

Some variety of Blue would be the correct answer.
For readily available cheeses i'll go with Maytag Blue.

Calling "cheddar" the best is akin to calling "beer" the best alcoholic beverage.
You might be right but there's a huge variety within that category.

If any of you really love cheese and want sensory and gastric overload - attend an American Cheese Society conference.
On the Saturday night they have a Festival of Cheeses featuring all of those that have competed in the championships.
This year it's the 28th of July in Pittsburgh. Everything from Soft cheeses to long term aged cheddars and blues.

The best cheese ever was the microwave pour over cheedar Orville Redenbacher had. That shit was so fucking good and so fucking bad for you lol.
