What's the appeal? Figured ok these guys have alot of fans there must be some bit of goodness in there. Listened to the first couple albums and then looked up lists of their best songs.
Literally everything about this band has been done better by somebody else

I was in my late teens during the Seattle music explosion. They were one I wasn't crazy about. I loved Nirvana, Alice in Chains, the Fastbacks, etc, but Cornell's high pitch kinda bothered me. His solo stuff and his Audioslave work, I really dig though. I would like to hear him with Soundgarden now though, because he seems to have lost his penchant for screaming everything, and I might appreciate that.

Was just sharing badmotorfinger with my 13 year old yesterday. Cornell is probably the best screamer in rock.

Yeah he has lost most of his screaming ability, he will do it a few times a show but nothing crazy like the old days. They are really really awesome to see live(note this summer their drummer is a fill in guy as Matt Cameron is touring full time with his other gig, Pearl Jam).

Re: Soundgarden
Having seen Soundgarden in the mid 90's and again just a few years ago, it kind of bummed me out that Cornell can't hit the notes like he used to.
Having said that, I have no idea how anyone who's a fan of rock music can listen to Badmotorfinger and not think it's a great album.

Liked ultramega ok up to bad motor finger. Love the song on the singles soundtrack as well. Saw them open up for Neil young and it was a pretty lame show.

Some people say that opinions can't be wrong because they are just opinions and not fact. Don't listen to those people. Your opinion is wrong and you should feel bad for having it.
