Just Found Out My Dad Passed Away..

True story.

You might ask, "dude, why are you at tSwill"?

He had been sick for a while. Has been in hospice care since July. He'd had a very rough night.. so I hung around East Lansing this morning, trying to figure out what to do.

Left EL around noon to drive to Asheville. Family called at 3:05 to tell me had had passed away. So I pulled over in Troy, OH to grab coffee at Starbucks.

So here I am.

Talked to my wife, then my daughter. Then I figured I'd check in with y'all.

I know I'm not always easy to get along with (I've gotten better - admit it!). But I feel like I know all of y'all and wanted to let you know.

Gonna be a weird feeling tonight to walk all alone into the quiet, dark house I grew up in.

I'm heading back on the road. Be nice to each other and take care of your families.

I’m sorry, Bob. I knew you’d been dealing with this for months, but even when you know it’s coming, it doesn’t do much to lesson the hurt. Drive safe, and think about your favorite times with your dad.

That sucks Bob. My wife's dad passed away a little over a year ago and it is still rough on the family, but you'll power through it. All the best.

Sorry for your loss. I’d like to tell you it gets easier, but I just watched field of dreams last night and cried my eyes out at the end. I miss my dad. When MSU or Green Bay scores I still reach for my phone to call him.

So it doesn’t get easy but consider the great times you’ve had along the way and know that he’s always a part of you. Give my best to your wife and daughter and all of your family. Very sorry about this.

Went through the same thing a couple years ago, the only difference is that my Dad was here with me. I'm not sure whether knowing it's coming really is easier, still hurts to lose a parent. I'll be thinking of you today.

I'm sorry dude. My dad died in a car accident a few years ago. Fucking sucks. I don't know what's worse, losing someone suddenly or having them slowly deteriorate and then pass. Either way is horrible.

I'll keep you in my thoughts. Sorry, I don't pray.

I never really know what to write.

Thanks guys. Yeah, my Mom passed away in 2012, had a brother that died when I was 20. Been tough on Dad (and me, I reckon).

Anyway, I appreciate all the kindness and sympathy.

Now sitting at a Starbucks in Lexington - - getting jacked up for the last 4 hours.

Thinking about heading over to Calipari's house and rubbing my schlong on his front porch before I get back on I-75.

Prayers for your family. My mom has been ill so this really hits home. A buddy died last month too. Life is short.
