First off I want to thank God for giving me this opportunity. These last 3 seasons at Michigan State have been incredible for me. I have been able to become not only a better basketball player but also a better man. I want to thank Coach Izzo and the entire coaching staff for believing in me and pushing me to be better everyday. I want to thank all the fans for the love and support and I also want to thank my teammates for helping me each and everyday. After consulting with the coaching Staff and my family I have decided to take the next step to pursue my lifelong dream of playing in the NBA by declaring for the 2019 NBA Draft. I have also hired an agent. Thank Spartan nation for everything. I will forever be a spartan! #GoGreen

If Pat can’t stand on his own, he won’t be getting much playing time from Head Coach Tom Izzo.

He's not coming back. I'm convinced this decision was made before his junior year even started.

Concur with Duff. He is not coming back. Izzo said on the Jack and Tom show that this was 90% done before the season started. Ward is well aware that he may not get drafted and he does not care. He will go overseas. He wants to be a pro ball player, not a student.

And yes we are going after transfers. If it works out, great. If not, we can bank the scholly and still have a NC caliber team coming back led by Cassius Winston and Foster Loyer.

He seemed genuinely happy most of the time during the season--more than previous seasons. I think he may have enjoyed it more than he thought he would. But there probably is very little for him to gain by staying. I wish him all the best and hope he finds a good landing spot.

Word is we're close to landing Blacksheer, that would be a nice upgrade.  The 2 brothers from Marquette were interested in coming here too but I think they come as a set so somebody would have to transfer out.
