My Hoiberg vs Loyer bet is still open. I might have to adjust the line a little bit but I'm still down to compare end of season totals. Originally I set the line at +40 for Hoiberg.

I still would like to see Loyer with some extended minutes. Nothing harder in basketball than playing knowing damn well you are coming out in 90 seconds.

something's off. we all laugh at his HS tapes, but by all accounts he lit up high-level AAU ball as well. maybe it's confidence, maybe it's lack of PT, izzo's system. OSU wasn't exactly amazing last year, but he played well with extended time.

or maybe he's just not big and athletic enough. dunno.

Point being... As with most things, confidence is a good chunk of the battle. Even with his poor defense and lack of speed/height... if he could at the very least shoot like he did in high school he would have SOME value.

A high school Loyer hits EVERY open 3 (not to mention when he was double and triple teamed)... Now, he's at like 20% on wide open looks. Just clang those down and you spread a little bit of D your way... open up the floor a step or two. Not be so useless.

I don't think he'll play on Wednesday. I'd guess they're shooting for 12/29 vs. EMU or 1/2 vs. Illinois.
