Drummers
Been on a Beatles kick after many many years not being able to listen to their songs (over played needed a break).
The one that jumps out at me is Ringo and how much I love his drumming. He's always treated as the runt to which I call BS the guy is a genius. I respect all the technical skill it takes to do those triplets and rolls on all those Led Zep and Cream albums but something about a drummer that holds the groove and keeps the back beat going just feels better.
Another one that is a master at this the dude from U2.

I only recently learned something interesting about Charlie's drumming. Keith mentioned in his book that Charlie didn't hit the hi-hat when he hit the snare during a regular beat. It's tap tap BAM tap, and it gave him a subtly distinctive sound.

That's very cool and I'm still bummed.
I remember a band mate left a drum kit at my place set up and I used to try to learn his beats. Figured that would be the best place to start. Couldn't get it down but really made me appreciate how steady he is and what a great pocket he created.

Re: Drummers
I thought Ringo was a session guy the Beatle's manager hired because Pete Best wasn't good enough
