True...most likely for Motown. I remember a few significant April snows down here. Snowed 8" in Warren early April 1982. Had just purchased my first new car (new style Z-28) couple days before. After the snow couldn't get it out of the driveway for a day or two until the city plowed the side streets lol!

We get snow every year in May.

One of the first years I was an athletic Director down here, so it had to be 89 9091 maybe, my aunt passed away and the funeral was in iron River at the end of April 1st part of May.  I remember being frustrated with the April down in Detroit because it probably rained two or three days a week, and it was really becoming hard to reschedule spring events softball baseball track.

Then I flew up to Marquette and drove a car to iron River for the funeral on a weekend. There had to still be 6 inches of snow on the ground the whole freaking way.

I don’t know how they do spring sports up there for high schools

Ishpeming used to dump all the snow from downtown streets into an old open pit mine. It was there year-round.

There's a place couple miles west of Copper Harbor known as the Devil's Washtub. It's a cavern in the Superior shoreline that is protected from sunlight. Supposedly there has been ice seen floating in it in August.
