We had baseball sized hail. I wasn’t home. I was in Alpena. My parents live a couple miles away and they said it sounded like the roof was coming down. Said it looked like it was raining baseballs into the lake. She put one in the freezer lol.

Checked in on some friends in the area. Turns out, the tornado was less than a mile from a couple of them.

We were coming back from Traverse when it happened, had been shopping on the strip west of Gaylord around 1PM including a stop at the Goodwill.

Haven't tried to go up there, but as you all know, it sounds like it drove down M32 like a tourist trying to make it to work on Monday.

Was concerned about the reports of wind and hail but there was no damage or evidence where we are on the lake. No electricity of course but the main substations are along M32 and the local power station is about a mile south of it. I'm guessing Consumers shut power down until the get the damaged area sorted out.

Horrible for Gaylord,

We’ve all heard the jokes about how trailer parks are tornado magnets. We know it’s because of the structure of trailers. They just can’t help you with winds over 100 miles an hour that last from 15 to 25 minutes. I don’t know what trailer parks are like, but it seems to me there should be some legislation that mandates every trailer park have some kind of shelter in place structure built before they allow the first trailer on the park. Maybe they do and people just don’t go in it. But whatever shelter in place building you have in your park it should be big enough to accommodate all the numbers of people living in your trailer park. Like I say maybe they have that rule I don’t know

I was passing through Gaylord about 2PM Friday, temperature was 88 degrees. By the time I got to Mackinaw City it was 58 degrees. I've been in plenty of 20 degree temperature drops in under an hour, but I don't ever remember a 30 drop.

I was in cheboygan earlier in the day. Felt a little muggy and cool. Went into the store and came out and it felt like the temp dropped 10 degrees. I just missed the hail in Presque aisle. Me and my daughter went to the store after I got her from school. I could see a nasty cloud rolling through to the north by grand lake. I got home and everything looked normal. My mother called, they live about a mile and a half away as the crow flies, and said all hell broke lose and wanted to know if we were ok. I said why wouldn’t we? It’s nice out. haven’t seen a drop of rain or anything. Crazy how things can be completely different only a mile or so away.

Traverse had a similar drop in 30 minutes last week. Lake water temps verses air temps.

Garland resort in Lewiston is nice. Plus the Boyne properties in harbor springs/Petoskey. Arcadia bluffs is a great course just south of Frankfort

Lewiston 1/2hr SE of Gaylord
HS an hour NW of Gaylord
Frankfort 2hr SW of Gaylord

I know a couple guys that claim forest dunes in Roscommon is the best public course in the state.
