Perry Johnson Quality Guru - Petition problems

Self-proclaimed Quality Guru Perry Johnson is short on valid signatures to appear on the primary ballot.

To get on the primary ballot one needs 15,000 valid signature with a minimum of 100 from each of the state’s Congressional Districts.   Candidates are allowed to submit up to 30,000 signatures.  

Perry Johnson’s campaign slogan is:
Can you think of anything more in need of quality than state government?

I can!  

Perry Johnson’s petition gathers who got 13,900 valid signatures and 9,393 invalid signatures.  What kind of quality control does a campaign exhibit when 40% of the signature collected were invalid.

A real quality expert who allegedly knows numbers should have had his campaign collect 6700 more signatures and if 40% were invalid he still would have had almost 18,000 valid signatures, way over the 15,000 threshold.

Several of the GOP governor hopefuls screwed up in not micromanaging their petition qualifications.

Historically, the Sec. of Transportation has been selected from the pool of politicians . Not Transportation experts. Lahood and Mineta were congressmen, Chao came from Labor. Peters Under GWBush was the Arizona DOT director I believe. Liz Dole was Reagan's. Her deputy Burnley was also a politician and Reagan appointed him.

There have been some who were not just politicians but had a background in Transportaiton and negotiations of contracts. I guess it depends on the president.

However, for gods sake, Pete Buttigieg is a Harvard grad, an Oxford grad and has run a city including transportation. That doesn't qualify him as some have been, but he's pretty damn sharp.

Jon Volpe under Nixon was considered the best so far I guess. Interesting bio's of all of them. Some in my opinion were more qualified than others. Some were definitely chosen for their background in the field.
