Happened on my street yesterday.
I was behind a marina truck. Pulled out in front of me with a tripod pontoon. No big deal. I knew we were coming to a corner and I was pretty sure it was going to turn right make 94 and haul it to 23 and gratiot for storage. Guy turns right in front of me and this happens. I’d be pissed if I was the boat owner when I got that call.

Oops
Probably not "totaled" although I have no way of knowing how boat insurance works.

Did he hit the curb or was going like 45mph?

Just a normal turn. Guy that dates my youngest daughter is big time into boats. Says he thinks the trailer was too small. I was thinking if he hit 94 and went from 16 to 23 mile and that fell off on the e-way somebody dies.
If I’m the owner I make them take X-rays of everything. Thing had been shrink wrapped already.

Still haven’t looked at the boat wreck because I can’t stop looking at all the filth and muck on your dashboard.

Shoulda grabbed the boat registration, DWags. Call up the owner and promise to testify as a witness to put that driver in prison.

So I parked and went up to the boat. I had my phone in my pocket but didn’t want to be that guy. I just asked the driver if he’s ok. He was but bummed. Wilson’s marina is literally less than half a mile behind us here. That was his first turn.

I have seen pontoon boats on that type of trailer and have always thought it looked like it could easily tip on a curve.
Too much weight outside of the wheels and too high a center of gravity.

Re: Happened on my street yesterday.
yikes.
any chance the wind played a factor? Understanding that it didn't necessary just blow it over, but if the momentum had it going one certain way, with a profile like that (along with the surface area once it tilted a bit), a gust of wind could be the cherry on top of the 'perfect storm sundae'.
(I just know that it was quite windy in East Lansing yesterday).

Saw a pic of a pontoon boat on instagram. Storm surge from Ian had left it perched perfectly atop four pilings, two on each side of a dock, probably five or six feet up in the air above the dock. Have fun getting that down in one piece.

I'd pull a lawnchair and a cooler to watch that. Almost as fun as hanging out a boat launch on a Saturday afternoon.

I once sat in the backyard at my cottage one day, built a fire, had a couple bloody Mary’s, and watched these guys climb up trees time off and cut them down in my neighbors yard these guys were brilliant. They knew exactly what distance the tree with the swing when they cut it on the rope I swear it was my neighbors cottage by 5 yards a couple times it was a fun morning

We have been clearing out the lot behind our cottage a few trees at a time, those guys are cutting 8 to 10 hours a day every day and really get the practice.
