Windmond is a LB not a De.
And sounds like Snows injury was worse than we knew.

CMT gave Brandon Jordan a chance as a DLine Specialist at a Power Five when others passed on him and he did so well the Seahawks hired him after one season.
Less than 2 weeks ago CMT hired Dixon Reynolds with 2 decades of NFL and Power Five experience.
I want to see how Hazelton improves the defense.

While the defense was worse than the offense, again due to injuries and depth issues, the offense was really not serviceable against better opponents.
Michigan State needs upgrades at many positions, but nowhere more than the lines.
As for Brandon Jordan, if he made a difference, it wasn't noticeable on the field, though admittedly maybe it would have been worse without him.

Tucker may like his coaches, others are not so sure.
This year, with Tuckers first real recruited class being in their 2nd year, plus the portal additions, one would hope to see improvements on the field.

I think we need to go at least 7-5, or there are going to be some concerns.

Looking at the schedule, and considering the uncertainty, it looks like the floor should be 2 - 10 and the ceiling should be 9 - 3, blind optimism is 11 - 1
But yes - if MSU doesn't win the games it should win, which it didn't last year, then concern is there.

I could only see two games that should be gimme wins.
I agree with the 7 - 5 being about right to where we should really begin to question if Tucker is the guy, though I would temper that with situational eye testing. Expect if MSU is 8 - 4 or above many fans will be okay, but not all.

Sounds like they're all getting equal snaps. Also, sounds like hoauser took a "step up" according to Johnson. Finally, I see on the twits and other internet stuff more pictures of Colman and him hanging together. i don't want to read anything into that, and I know it means nothing, but a chemistry is a chemistry. That can also lead to bad things like a qb staring down the guy he feels most comforatble with.

So, when he had a decent line he was adequate. Had a shit line he sucked... maybe, just maybe... it's the line and not him? 1.5 extra seconds and he makes the throws.NigelUno wrote:I mean...I'll raise an eyebrow or two if we change QBs.

He is a good college QB, and has the experience to make the reads and audible the adjustments. However if one of the back ups is the next Joe Montana then he should be playing.

THE YEAR BEFORE WE HEARD ALL OF THIS TALK ABOUT A GUY NAMED KENNETH WALKER. SO I GUESS I’M HAPPY THAT WE ARE HEARING SOME EXCITEMENT FROM THE TEAM AGAIN.
THAT, AND $2.45 WILL GET YOU A MEDIUM CUP OF COFFEE AT TIM HORTONS.
Sorry, I don’t understand why it typed in all capitals. I’m doing voice to text and I promise I’m not yelling.

Just saying that Tucker has made it clear it is an open competition for the position, maybe as motivation, maybe for real.
Re: Spring football 2023
After an 11-win season in 2021, Michigan State’s offensive line was severely shorthanded last spring due to injuries, which altered how practice was run. That isn’t the case this spring with 19 offensive linemen available as the Spartans can roll three full lines, along with extra bodies, in practice.
“You can just see in drills,” Duplain said. “We’re able to do more, we’re able to get more reps and we’re able to get better reps in drill work and guys aren’t just struggling to make it through the practice.”
https://www.mlive.com/spartans/2023/04/why-michigan-states-jd-duplain-returned-for-fifth-year.html
edit - okay I have to add this quote:
“I love this place. I love Michigan State and I want to be a part of something special,” Duplain said. “I think what the coaching staff is doing … is special and I think we have a really special roster right now. I think there’s big things that can happen this upcoming season, which I’m really excited for.”

There's an elephant in the room? Why didn't we know this? Never mind the custard and crap sometimes the most logical and obvious answer is also the correct one. There's an elephant in the room? This is what is happening!
