I don’t think they really wanted to most of those years. They could have gone for it this year, but opted not to at the trade deadline.

Which, given Florida’s success so far, maybe was a mistake. But I don’t think they’ve really been trying to eke their way into the playoffs in any of these years really

Could be. Maybe the strategy was strike gold in one lottery with the first pick for a franchise type guy. Seems maybe now they're building a foundation and plan on purchasing the "guy"  they got cap space.

I had to read up. He’s a multi-season 40-goal scorer, which is something the Wings haven’t had in years. He’s also a hometown kid who wanted to come to Detroit. It’s nice when they want to be a part of the organ-EYE-zation. (I wrote that phonetically the way a Canadian would say it.)

Was at the game Wednesday night - may very well have been the most fun I've had at a sporting event in years. Team is back to playing aggressive, hard nosed hockey. I don't know how long it's going to last, but I'm going to enjoy the ride while I can. Very happy with the decision to snag a 10 game package this season. Feels like the season has potential to be special.

Was a pleasure to listen to the game today - Ottawa ended up being the turning point last season, so it felt good to see the team take a bit of revenge. The biggest surprise so far this season has been the goals. I think we knew that DeBrincat would score goals, but I don’t think we were ready for how much DeBrincat and the other signings would elevate the offense. Again, I don’t know how long this ride is going to last, but it is a blast while it lasts.
