Motown’s Thanksgiving Celebration
Haters gonna hate, but we’re finalizing plans for the Lions/Packers game on Thanksgiving and the MSU/PSU game on Friday.
Anyone have any leads on Lions tickets?
MSU tickets?
What else should we do?
Where we should stay?

I always find it funny when an out of towner asks me where to stay when they visit detroit (I mean I don’t live near Detroit now but I used to) and it’s like I have no idea I just get an Uber why would I know which hotels are good I sleep in my bed here

The RenCen is nice. Stayed there before the Detroit Marathon one year.
It was nice. You probably don't need me to tell ya that. You've probably heard of it. That's about all I know.

DWags has some room, or maybe Floyd if he moves the model train set out of the spare room.

Shouldn’t you have had these questions answered before announcing your celebration?

Re: Motown’s Thanksgiving Celebration
Just re-checked my email from the Spartan ticket office. Ticketmaster is not letting me purchase additional tickets. I will try to remember to call the STO tomorrow. How many you looking for?
"Please note, Spartan Fund members will be able to purchase additional tickets in Spartan Fund donor priority order from July 17-31. Tickets beyond the number of Spartan Stadium season tickets will range in price from $50-200."

Oh I did stay in the ren cen once for a wedding. It was a hotel. You know the kind. Bed, toilet, flat carpet, shower. Probably gonna want to book quick for that weekend I’d imagine they’d be full fast.

I always ask people where I should stay and realize afterwards they have no idea, they live there.
Only place I've stayed downtown is the RenCen. Definitely nice and somewhat close to Ford Field. Greektown casino hotel is within walking distance, but never stayed there.
I always recommend the I-75/Big Beaver area for out of town peeps for work. Lots of restaurants and hotels in the area. Pretty central to everything. Only 20-30 minutes from downtown. But the area is not walkable.
No idea what hotels are in Royal Oak, but still the metro areas designated hipster bar area. Downtown RO is definitely walkable.

Re: Motown’s Thanksgiving Celebration
RenCen was nice back when a Westin property. SIL worked there. Got upgraded to huge suites on upper floors for a couple years for AWS dinner/evenings. Massive suites. Bedrooms on both ends were double-size regular rooms. In between, there were 3 other rooms 3x a regular room. Could walk maybe a quarter way around the building without going into the hallway, all while looking at the Detroit River/Windsor waterfront. Was beautiful.
Long ago. Haven't been downtown in decades. No idea what the RenCen looks like now.

I’d wait until MSU has lost three games and the lions are below .500, then, only the true Spartan fans and the best lions fans will want their tickets. Secondary market will be loose.
I look forward to a packer victory and then seeing a penn state beat down of epic proportion’s.

My go to recommendation work peeps for a while. But there are a bunch of other newer/cheaper options on the NW corner of 75/Big Beaver look at also.

Mrs. GreenWay likes the Detroit Foundation Hotel. It’s a boutique hotel that was once a fire station. As a bonus, the popular Apparatus Room is inside the hotel and offers food & drinks. IDK where it is in relation to FF.

His are the worst, which is sad, because I’m pretty sure he interrupts his nap schedule to work on them.

Awesome game. Three goals in a minute was crazy. What’s up with the Ric Flair ‘Woooooo’? How long they been doing that? Went to a game last year and don’t remember it.
We’ll be at the Detroiter in Greektown around 4:30 if your in the area. Not sure if you still have my #. Look for the tall surly looking dude in white Sparty hat. Or just yell ‘Nordic’.

I’m assuming you mean tomorrow? Because we’re in downtown right now for the parade and Lions game.
No idea when they started doing the wooo but one of my friends is a hockey dad and he’s been doing it for a few years.
That was great though with that goal flurry. Didn’t even announce the scorer when the next goal was scored!

Lots of nice places downtown that are more convenient than the RenCen. Check out The Shinola for example. Or Hotel Indigo, or The Siren. There is even a Cambria downtown as well as several other chains. The downtown area from the RenCen up Woodward or through Greektown is walkable.
For those who haven't been downtown in awhile, check it out.

Agree with all of this. Also Aloft at the Whitney is the wife and my go to if we’re downtown for the night (stones concert Friday night tigers game etc). For any of the northern Michigan peeps who haven’t been in a while -it’s amazing what can happen in a city when you have a few people in government that realize it’s not about them, but us.
