Dombrowski made a lot of moves that the fans liked at the time. They haven't worked out very well. Now, the farm system is void of talent from what the people who follow that sort of thing say.

But, if we can upgrade at 3rd, LF, CF, RF and catcher, find 3 or 4 bull pen arms (including a closer) and get our SS back healthy, we could be good next year.

Still over 40 games left, and this team has the talent to get hot again. Will it happen I don't know. They had a stat during the game, the Tigers have gone sub .500 the last 77 games but I think it's way too early to declare them out of it yet.

Yep. I was very tempted to melt down after watching tonight's game, but you know what? This team has the pieces. They are just not clicking right now, and the team is very streaky. This might just be the kind of team that can heat up in October, a la the St. Louis Cardinals seeminglyeveryfuckingyear.

No reason to give up. It's frustrating to watch for sure but no reason to think it can't turn around. Hell this has already happened once this year.

There's no reason to panic. Detroit just needs to finish out August playing .500 baseball and hopefully everything will start clicking in September. The Royals may have peaked too early. FYI, Cabrera might have just got out of his slump last night.

I don't think it's over just yet - too many good arms in the starting rotation even with Anibal down and JV hurting.

The thing is, KC is red hot right now but they can't keep this pace of 15 wins in 18 games. It's just not sustainable. Just like holding the tigers bats *collectively* at bay isn't sustainable.

Detroit will go on a run of some kind, we just have to wait & watch.

With 45 games left the Tigers have every chance to win the Division. They have 31 games left against AL Central teams: 6 - KC, 7 - CLE, 7 - CHW, and 11 - MIN. Against AL Central teams the Tigers are 24-21. With 24 home games left they also have to go on the road 21 times. For the other 14 games they play 2 - PIT, 3 - SEA, 3 - TBR, 3 - NYY, and 3 - SFG. They are 3-10 and have yet to play SFG. They will play better against those teams.

Well the Indians went 30-15 in their last 45 games last year, and they weren't even a very good team, they just cleaned up on the bottom feeders.

And the Twins finished 29-13 in 2009, the year we played game 163.

The Indians had really good bats in their lineup last year.

I can't speak to the Twins that year, I wasn't following closely.

My point about the Royals is they're pretty obviously playing above their heads right now. It's not gonna last.

The tigers very much need to warm up the bats, and they've done that to great effect two times this season already. It'll happen again. The bullpen? Anyone's guess.
